I also remember laying across the ledge where the back window was and hoping my parents would hit the brake hard enough for me to roll off!
I thought I was the only one!

I remember sitting in my dad's lap in our Maverick 
And when we graduated to the Volkswagon Bus, we totally moved around in the back all the time. *BUT* we weren't allowed to sit in the front seat until we were 13 (I can't remember his *rule* - may have been a different age). And if we sat in the front, we had to wear the seatbelt ...

I used to climb from the back seat to the front seat whenever I felt like it!!!
I'd pitch a FIT whenever anyone told me to put a seat belt on... in the FRONT SEAT!
Times have changed..

I remember sitting on the 'hump' in the back between the 2 front seats.. that was PRIME seating! I could hear my parent's conversation AND see the view! I also remember laying across the ledge where the back window was and hoping my parents would hit the brake hard enough for me to roll off!
OMG me too. There is a photo of my mom bringing me home from the hospital (1977) - holding me on her lap. In the front seat.

I remember laying on the little shelf thing above the back seats-against the back windshield
Anyone used to play Dukes of Hazard by sliding in and out of the car doors through the windows (car NOT moving of course)?
