Asked to be in bridal party, tell bride we're ttc?
I was asked to be in my cousin's bridal party recently (wedding is Summer 2012). DH and I just started ttc and my family doesn't know. I was thinking about mentioning something to my cousin now so she can be prepared and work with me on the dress. Do you think I should tell her in advance or wait for a BFP and then deal with it when it happens?

If you can trust her that she wont say anything since you are keeping it private Id say something. They have such cute flowy dresses that it would look good on everyone! Good

I had the exact same situation with my cousin. I let her know that it would be possible that I could be very big at her wedding and asked what we could do about the dress. IMO, I could trust her with my little secret so I told her. But your situation may be diff. Come to find out the baby I thought might be in my belly at her wedding will actually be in person instead lol. So no need to even worry about the dress fittin anymore

I agree... some brides are funny about this stuff... a friend of mine told me a story about her sisters friend... she didnt want anyone to be pregnant at her wedding... and she told all the girls this... and 3 of her BMs wound up being pregnant for her wedding...

That's kind of what I was worried about. My other cousin was pregnant for my wedding and asked me if I didn't want her in my bridal party anymore. I was shocked she asked me that because I would never have thought that. I wanted her to be there next to me for my wedding with a big belly or not! My family is very close so I can't see her getting upset if I was pregnant. I think she would be excited.

I'm sorry but that's just ridiculous!! If someone told me that I'd try to get pregnant just to spite them!!

i think 2 of the girls did it on purpose... the other one (my friends sister) was going through fertility treatments and told the bride to go suck a fat one... she kept her in the bp anyway lol

crashing...I would tell her...it may affect her decision to keep you in the bridal party.
I was asked to be a BM in two weddings and I told both brides that DH and I were planning to try for a baby and that i could very possibly be pregnant for their weddings. I left the decision up to them and because I had just gone through planning my own wedding, I didn't want either of them to have extra stress (is she going to fit into the dress, will she be able to stand all day, is she going to wear flats etc).
One bride who is WAY more laid back didn't even hesitate and said she could care less. The other bride said she didn't think about me being pregnant next year and would like to think about it. And i completely understood and left that up to her. She did think about it and excused me from the bridal party I wasn't offended. I'm glad that I told her upfront because now I know she wouldn't have been happy with a surprise pregnancy down the road!

I think it depends on your relationship with her. If you trust her and are close, I could see mentioning it. I can't believe though that anyone would actually kick someone out of their BP for being pg! I don't understand people sometimes.

i would tell her in advance. i think it is always good to give the bride a heads up. i told my brother's FI that we will be TTC by their wedding in Apirl. She only asked that we don't try to have the baby right by their wedding. Since I'm not pregnant now, that wont be a problem. I'm the MOH in their wedding.

I would let her know. My cousin asked me to be on her BP about a month after my mc. I told her about it and that I'd still be trying. Well, now I'll be 35 weeks pg at her wedding and she picked a horrendous dress for a pregnant person. I honestly think she wasn't thinking about it when she picked the dress. Life would've been so much easier had she just picked a nice empire waist. Now the dress is costing me an extra $65 just for the extra length and bigger size. I'm still scared it won't fit! Definitely tell her if you can hopefully avoid a situation like mine.

I can see both point of views on this topic. If I had a close relationship with my cousin and could trust her not to blab my business to the family I would maybe tell. But I think you should wait until getting a BFP! Dresses are done just a few month before the wedding I believe!!! This happened to me! We were planning my wedding and 2 months in my SIL announced she was pregnant! So we just worked with the Dress shop and got a bigger size!!!

My sister was hugely pregnant at my wedding... she wore a completely different dress than the rest of my bms

This! One of BM's got pregnant and only told me because she had to order her dress and wanted my opinion on what size to get and if she should get a different dress. Teh dress I chose was very form fitting and ended up loking super sute with her baby bump. It hink if you're only TTC not pregnant, then you don't have to tell her. It may not even be an issue, why worry her?
