Asking for a raise??
I'm thinking of asking my bosses for a raise. Does anybody have any tips? And should I go in with a number I think is fair? Thanks!

Re: Asking for a raise??
You could put together a list of things you currently do / are in charge of that are outside of your job description now (therefore justifying your raise so to speak). As far as a number, I would have an idea what is standard for your company or industry. I would let them make the initial offer of a # & if it's lower than standard, I would ask them to reconsider their offer to make it more in line with industry averages (be prepared with data to back up your #s).
Good luck!!!!!

Re: Asking for a raise??
I just asked for one an wa approved. I asked last year but the department was going through some changes. I asked for 10% but didn't word it that way. I asked for the top of my pay range instead. . I have a new boss for only 3 weeks. The old one gave me a great review and told me to go to the VP of our dept and ask for the top pay. The new boss is the one that is suggesting 5%. So I got a little screwed with new management.

Re: Asking for a raise??
My agency doesn't offer raises, but they do offer bonuses as an incentive, especially when it comes to taking on extra work, or completing stuff that needs to get in under a deadline.
Maybe you could talk about doing something like this. It may go over better vs. asking for a raise, especially if your company traditionally does not do them.
On average, I get at least one a month which tends to equal an extra paycheck. I feel like I see it more too, for some reason, this way.
I know sometimes just a raise alone can equal out to only a few dollars after taxes.
