At What Age Did You Put Away Your Babies Activity Mat?
My DD is 9 MOS next week. I still lay her on it and she seems to like it. The toys hanging seem low though. Should I remove the part that hangs the toys and let her just use the blanket alone or is it ok to keep using the toy bars?
When did you ladies put it away for good?
Thanks

At about 7 1/2 months, she would just roll when on it and pull down the toys dangerously...

Ok...my DD rarely rolls believe it or not..I guess since she's SO chubby. But she has pulled down the toys! So maybe I should take the criss cross bar that hangs them off and just let her lay on the mat itself?

You could do that or just have her lay on a regular blanket. That is what I would do, lay out a huge blanket and put a ton of toys on it to play. I found the activity mat is smaller than most blankets so there was less room for her. I also have the alphabet mat from onestepahead and that totally is so soft and encouraged her to roll!

about 7 months the twins lost total interest in it. I spread out a big sheet with all their toys on it.

Re: At What Age Did You Put Away Your Babies Activity Mat?
About 6 months old once she was able to sit by herself. I wanted her to practice sitting more and spend less time on her back even though she still liked the mat. When the mat was out I found that my DD was lazy and just wanted to lay there.

Once she could sit up she wanted nothing to do with it. So we put it away around 5 months.
Although she started rolling off of it way before that...she was still interested in it for the little time she was on there.

Re: At What Age Did You Put Away Your Babies Activity Mat?
Around 6 months DS started trying to crawl, and he was rolling well at that point so he lost interest in the mat. I think around then we bought a foam mat for his room, and that's what he started to play on. It's a better way to encourage your child to roll or try to crawl--they will start doing more of this to get to their toys.

Mine are 7 months and still use it but they do acrobatics. They run their feet up the sides, pull the toys to watch them snap back, etc..They are not sitting unassisted yet so I still use it. Probably a couple more months. If you are ocncerned about her getting hurt with the toys replace them with soft toys. I say if she likes it keep using it

I think it was 7/8 months. Once she was crawling and pulling up to standing she really had no need for it.
ETA: we did take the toys off at about 6 months and just used it as a mat after that.

I'd say we got rid of it around 6 months when DS was able to sit up on his own. He lost interest in it b/c he didn't want to lay down.

DS is a year old and it's still out. he pulls on the toys but hasn't used the mat itself in months. there are a few toys that we've been meaning to put away!
