with KJ, due to the new recommendations, I plan to keep him rear facing as long as possible

He was around 15 months.

Liam will be one next week. I was planning on turning him. His feet touch the back seat
and he is craning around to see the front.. But, I haven't made up my mind yet.

DD is almost 14 months and is still facing rear. I plan on keeping her facing rear till at least 2 years old.

We turned DS around at 14 months.

With the new recommendations I plan to leave DD rear facing for as long as I possibly can. I will try to get her to 2.

DD #1 didnt reach 20 pounds until 18 months or so. i think i turned her shortly after- maybe around 19 months? DS is 20 pound already at 9 months- yes my 2.8 yo and 9 mo wweigh almost the same , but anyhow, i plan on keeping him rear facing as long as he will tolerate it. hopefully as close to 2 as possible

Between a 1 and 18 months.

I will do the same with DS-i.e. keep him rear facing as long as possible.

With DD it was more like 10.5 months. She CRIED and screamed every time..once we turned it around and she was forward facing she was a dream in the car

16 months and my DD is still rear facing. She looks out the window and has no problems rear facing.

On her 1st birthday. She was way too tall to stay rear-facing, her feet were bent up against the seat.

And our car seat was installed at the fire dept., so we know that it was installed correctly.

About 13-14 months. Somewhere in there. My DD is on the taller side and was getting smushed up back there so we switched her to forward facing.

I switched DD#1 at 18 months - BUT that was before the new recommendations. I spoke with Carseatsafety the other day and he said that they are trying to keep the kids as close to 2 as possible but that many won't make it that long - but to at least try to get to 18 months if you can do so.

OTHER . . . DD was two weeks short of 27 months.

20mo and still rear facing.. her feet are elevated on the seat if she straightens them out. But she doesnt really unless she's kicking for fun or mad..ha

She keeps her knees bent. She's comfy, its not hurting her at all. She's not old like her mommy.

My DD was almost 2. Yes, her knees were bent but she didn't mind. She never complained or fussed at all. We finally turned her around when we were really having trouble putting her into the seat.

DD#2 just turned 1 and she is actually still in the infant seat! Yes, she's a peanut! She still fits, and it was just easier in the winter. Every week I tell DH I want to put the other seat in, but haven't gotten around to it yet. So obviously, she will be rear-facing for a looooong time!!

DS is going to be 16 months and we still have him rear facing, even though he's already 28 lbs. We honestly just haven't gotten around to it....Most likely soon though.....

Years before the new recommendations, we kept both DC rear-facing until around 18 or 19 months.

the early you can turn the baby face forward is a year old, and they must be 20lbs or more. Now if your 9 month old is 20lbs already you would have to wait until the baby reached a year. its for safety reasons. the neck muscles are much stronger after year old, and wouldnt be able to take the impact.
