At what age did you start a bedtime routine???

DS is a month and I dont know when to start this. He is probably too young right now. Any insight would be great!!

like I said in the other post. We started from day one! Its a struggle, but now at 15 weeks he knows when we are in the bedroom its bedtime. A nice hot bath, get the johnsons and johnsons nightime bath and life is good.

Right from the beginning.

It has changed over time, but I think it's best to start with a routine that suits your needs and just adjust it here and there as necessary.

My DS is a month too and we've been having very similar problems to you with the gas and fussiness. That is making the bedtime routine much more difficult. I'm just introducing nutragemin today so I'm hoping that this will help him out and we can get on a better schedule now.
I'd like to do the feed, bath, book bedtime routine and we've been trying but with all the screaming it was really hard.

I would say once he started sleeping through the night - 3.5 months, I think. I always gave him a bath at night, but once he was going down for the night and sleeping more than 4-5 hours at a time, we started the bath, bottle, read a book, bed routine.
I think it definitely helped with getting him down for the night as he got older. Once we are reading in his room, he knows it's time for bed soon.

2 months here also....before then it just seemed too early to establish a pattern

We tried to do something from day one. Even if it's just having them sleep somewhere dark, rather than in the swing, or somewhere other than a bedroom/nursery.

Just so they get used to SOMEthing.

I started both at 8 weeks. Bath, bottle, book, bed by 8pm!!! Worked like a charm

I actually just started it and DS is 3 months...

I am usually very organized, but I had a hard time figuring things out...

I've been doing it for a week or so and he seems to get it already...

Day one. They don't pick up on it right away, but the earlier you can get a pattern going the better, so that when they DO become aware, it's already in place. You never know the exact day they'll suddenly realize it.

From about 7 weeks.

Everynight at the same time (we've actually just started an hour earlier now, and it still works)

Warm bath w/J&J bedtime bath wash and lotion - we have a CD I got at her Music Together class that I play and sing to her during bathtime.

I hand her over to Daddy and he gives her a bottle in her room with the lights dimmed then right down in her crib. She's usually asleep within 10 minutes and sleeps until 7am.

We started around 3 months with bathtime etc. and it worked really well as the time has gone on. My ds really enjoys the baths now and now at 6 months I can put him down awake but sleepy at night and he falls asleep within a couple of minutes.

We follow his lead and have since we brought him home. I don't see why he needs to go to bed at a certain time if he's not ready. It actually works really well for me now that I'm back at work. If he was going to bed at 7:30 or 8 I would not get to spend any time with him because of my stupid hours.

DS is home with DH which means he can sleep in as late as he wants to. He's an awesome sleeper which is probably why I feel this way though!

I would say closer to 6 months, he was colic and had acid reflux, just fussy all the time till he past 5 months. 6 months is when we had some sort of routine down,

at 9 months we still don't have one. She has no sleep issues at all - so she just goes right in. (I bathe her in the mornings so that never became part of the routine)

At about 1 month. I would start the process at 11 == change, set up the room -- dark, white noise, etc, then I swaddle her and then feed her and she goes to bed and sleeps until the morning. I am now gradually trying to get her in bed earlier, though bc her schedule doesn't work for me now that I am going back to work. She has been sleeping from 12 - 9:30, but I would rather 9-6.
