Baby doesn't open mouth for spoon
Did anyone's LO not really open their mouth for the spoon to eat solids? DD kind of slurps the food off the spoon or sucks it off the spoon. LOL, it's kind of funny - but kind of makes me worried that she is not learning how to eat correctly. Anyone else's LO do this, and did you find any way to help them? TIA

Re: Baby doesn't open mouth for spoon
DD took forever to open her mouth for the spoon on a consistent basis. I just kept trying every single day/multiple times of day and she finally just started opening her mouth more consistently one day.
The only thing I did for her was open my mouth to model it for her the entire time I was always trying to feed her. I probably looked like an idiot

Re: Baby doesn't open mouth for spoon
DD had this issue the first few times I tried feeding her with a spoon. I gave her a spoon with nothing on it to hold and explore. I also modeled what she should do and how to open my mouth when the spoon had food on it. Once she saw that she understood that she needed to open her mouth when I put food on the spoon.

Re: Baby doesn't open mouth for spoon
i didn't have that issue with DS, but my grandma told me that if he ever refused to open his mouth for the spoon, put some sugar water on it and he'll learn quickly!
it's the same concept as sugar water on a nipple to entice baby to feed
