Baby Furniture - need your advice

OK, so we were dead set on white (aware it may chip and not necessarily hold up as well as other finishes). But when we were about to place the order the rep was trying to talk us out of it. Saying the furniture just won't last and we will wind up being disappointed.

I just don't know what to do. The walls are two shades of brown (darker wall will be the wall the crib is on):

Paint (colors are actually a little darker than they appear here):


The floor is pergo:


We have all white trim:


And the bedding we picked is brown:


So, now I don't know what to do. I feel like we needed white furniture to really break up all the browns. Should we just go with it or reconsider?

I say go with the white if that's what you originally wanted. I don't think you'll have any issues.

i am going with white. it's what i fell in love with, and paint can be retouched. i love the white in that bedroom - you're right, it breaks up the browns a bit.

Go with white... thats what you wanted! I wanted white too and since we are not finding out the sex a lot of people said it was girly... but I got what I wanted!

Ignore the sales lady! Go with what you want and love. The white will look awesome.

I dont like black. All my living room furniture is black, it collects waaaaay too much dust.

I like the maple or the white but I think white would look best. I say go with that if thats what you wanted.

I am always partial to natural shades. We were going to go with white (hesitantly) but I chose a different bedding set and went with natural. I personally like the maple with your bedding, but go with your gut!

i love the way white would look with the colors of the room you have!
it goes great together!! go with what you want.. dont let anyone talk you out of it!

i had white furniture growing up and i loved it... i never had any of those problems with it and it lasted just as long as my brother's furniture which was dark wood...

Screw the sales person. Go with what you love! The white set is absolutely GOREGOUS!!!!

I had/have white and have had it for 4 years, 2 kids and have had NO problems with it.

i like the white or maple. i think balck is too dark with all the brown.

white can sometimes look a little more for a girl but it looks really nice and will break up all the browns. get what you want.

is the white less expensive? or not in stock and maybe that is why the slaesperson was steering you away from it? was it white in general she disagreed with or the particular manafacturer?

in my experience the sales people are not very helpful. one tried to convince me my twins would be basically hurt sleeping in any mattress under 400 each. i called the manafature directly and they directed me to a mattress that was definaltey less and told me all the reasons the less expensive one was better!!

I say go with the maple since you are having a boy. For some reason white furniture seems girly to me. I'm sure that's not fact, its just my opinion.

I like the maple..my bedding set looked totally different with a white crib but I personally did not like the white...found the same bedding with a cherry wood and was sold...go with what you like and want..who cares what that sales lady says..she's a sales lady...she wants to sell you..sorry not saying they're all bad but you should get what you and your DH like!
