I get being super careful. I have family members who have cystic fibrosis. They are careful and wear masks everywhere work remotely. They are living their lives traveled on airplanes went to events with multiple people. One even had Covid and luckily no issues. People need to do what is right for them and their circumstances.

Btw my comment was a joke...figured I should put it out there before anyone gets upset

LOL! I didn't take offense to it, but understand the point.
Anyone who is considering having an indoor party with a lot of people aren't being careful themselves. Those friends like us who are carful hang out outside when it's nice out or wear masks and are apart. They are not throwing indoor get togethers now.
I know people all over the place too who are having parties, traveling, etc.
To each their own, but my own opinion to stay safe now is to wait a bit longer and would decline any invite that is inside with a lot of guests.

How many have gotten sick from these parties? How many hospitalized? Died?

Sick yes. Thank goodness no one died.
and yes... some never got Covid.
My DH own his own business in construction. He doesn't work he doesn't get paid. If he gets exposed that's 2 weeks not working. Maybe if he was working from home we'd be a bit more open about being with others.
It also depends where you're at too. My friends daughter's lungs are formed smaller than an average person. She spent her 1st 2 years of life at the Ronald McDonald house bc her lungs were formed on the outside when she was born. After tons of surgery she's doing great, but I can see why they are super carful. What about people who live with and taking care of an elder or sick relative. I think it's case by case.
I don't judge friends who are out and about, but we may decline to go inside. That's all.
My brother works at a hospital and has seen perfectly healthy people die too. I don't know... I guess we can all choose to live how we want the best way that keeps us and our family healthy.

Understood :)

The husband (soon-to-be father) just tested positive for COVID.

Does that impact what some of you said previously? Genuinely wondering....

I was actually wondering if you had disappeared.

I probably wouldn't make out with the dad but I'm not really into making out with many people.

I was too busy getting therapy as suggested on the Politics board.Chat Icon

Seriously, I was working 14-16 hour days and then I got Covid. So I was just relaxing honestly and binge watching TV for a week.

I also stopped with the Politics board since, whichever, way you slice it, it's only a cone sided misguided view you're allowed to post without getting attacked.

Yes I am done with the Politics board now as well. Was honestly a mistake going back in the first place.

Just as an FYI you are almost guaranteed to have long term side effects from Covid. MOST people do. I mean, I don't, and no one I know does. But most do.

You're very lucky you don't. My two cousins have long term side effects, they are dead. I'd say it's pretty long term, but who knows
My former coworker is still on oxygen, but it's only been 3 months, so may not be a long term side effect.

Sorry for those who have lost family members to Covid. Jokes about something serious is a way of coping, you know if you don’t laugh you will cry? I have family that has died from things like cancer and yes have joked about cancer. Family with mental illness have joked about that too. By joking people are not making light of your loss or sadness. Try not to take it personally.

It was Anotherplease's comment in response to VB asking how many people have died from indoor parties and she said something about "all of them. There is no one left." Page 3.

I actually thought her first comment "that's what they get for even thinking about throwing a shower" was kind of funny but this one was in very poor taste.

Yeah I have to agree with this. I can see how someone might be offended if they lost someone close but joking about serious topics is old as time.

Girl me too.. the amount of negative and stupid response you get when people find out you have Covid. I was damn near read my last rights and put in the grave.

Luckily I understand data and statistics. Lucky I was positive I would be ok and knew there was a .01 chance I would die or be hospitalized. So even though I am older and have chronic asthma, I was fine and this was the least sick I have ever been in my life. I’m talking years of ER visits, steroid shots, needing oxygen for strep or the flu.

Yes I was lucky it didn’t effect me badly but statistics and data also back it up. For some odd reason people want to just accept negative, doom and gloom data to support their theories. It’s actually disturbing to me. A person can hear 10 good outcomes of Covid, and 1 bad case and that’s all you hear.

Disclaimer: And yes I will laugh and yes sadly I do know people who have died and suffered from Covid. It’s the minority but I do know. Nobody wants the to play the death card with me to make me feel bad for making light of a ****** situation. You won’t win. So sick of the nonsense and made up stories to make their posts sound sincere, real or better. It’s like one uppers around here.
