Baby Shower dilemma....
My mom is throwing me a baby shower, I know about it...I'm not into surprises. She asked when I want to have it and I said it would work best for me and DH to have it Presidents Weekend bc we're off presidents week and we can get everything organized. But she is afraid that it will snow and it will be ruined. She want to wait until March but I think that's cutting it close since I'm due April 1st. I told her we live in NYC and it can snow in April so we have to just go ahead with our plans and if people don't come then I can't do anything to control that.
What would you do?
PS. We're trying to do a Sunday and the week before Presidents wknd is the day before valentine's day and we're not sure if that would be bad timing, the week before that is superbowl sunday and the fellas won't be around to help carry things back home. So I feel stuck

Maybe it's just the fact that I lived in the Buffalo area for college, but I don't let the fear of snow prevent me from making plans . If President's Weekend is the best time for you to have it, go for it!

I would plan it for the weekend that works best for you! I wouldn't worry about it maybe snowing.

I had my bridal shower on Superbowl Sunday and there was no problem. I say just go for the day you think is best and don't worry.

I agree, go with what works best for you and DH.
That said, I would be nervous that people have already planned vacations for President's weekend if it's a long weekend with no work on Monday or week off from school.

Re: Baby Shower dilemma....
I'd do the shower when it works best for you. My mom was also super concerned about the snow and my shower, but I'm not due until the end of April so we are just doing it in mid-March and hoping for the best. I'd just be aware of snow when you are picking a location. If you are doing it at a place just take a look at parking, streets, etc.
My mom insists we have showers at my parents house and due to the fact that they live on a private road (no plows) and on top of a steep driveway (awful in the snow and dangerous to walk up if it's icy) we have to be really careful when doing any sort of party here in the winter. Although, I would not do a party at my parents in the middle of winter I would totally have done my shower at a place in the winter.
ETA: I agree with the above poster about planning events the Sunday before a holiday week. Some people go out of town and have stuff booked already.
