Re: Baby Shower ideas
I heard a rumor that they are going to measure my belly and have everyone take guesses at how big I am!
I'm horrified and really hope it isn't true.
I think baby shower bingo is more than enough. It keeps guests entertained during all the present opening.

I think the white onsie decorating idea is a great one. Will probably do "measure the belly" and BINGO of course!

Re: Baby Shower ideas
I went ot a really cute shower and the theme was farm animals. She had a different stuffed animal in a straw basket at each table. She gave out cookie cutter placecards with animals attached, it was really cute. Oh and her favor was an about to hatch egg timer.
I've heard of doing a nusery rhyme theme too!
Have fun planning

Re: Baby Shower ideas
Everyone had fun playing this game, so of the guess where crying from laughing so much. I got on e-bay Seller info cynthiab0626
Great Baby Shower Fun !! Personalized Just Fory Your Baby Shower! Any name!! or,( It's A Boy, or It's A Girl), Anything you want!! Cute, quirky, and FUN Story Included PERSONALIZED ENVELOPES WITH GAME WINNER/NON WINNER CARDS INSIDE The story is very cute and just plain fun to read, listen to, and participate in. Watching the looks on my guests faces as they figured out which way to pass their envelope, and watching them crack up was priceless! Start with this game and the atmosphere turns very relaxed as everyone just has fun together. I made this game for my daughter's baby shower and it was a HUGE succes !! Many guests did not know each other at the start of the shower but after playing this game, EVERYONE was laughing and having a GREAT time TOGETHER !! Left, Right, Pass the Envelope Baby Shower Game is FUN!! Give everyone an envelope. Simply read the story and every time the word "left" is said, they pass their envelopes to the left. Every time the word "right" is heard, they pass their envelopes to the right. The whole story is centered around the words "left", and "right". At the end of the story, everyone opens their envelope to find out if they've won. A "you've got the "right" one, baby" is a winner. This is a game EVERYONE can play. I know it's somewhat frustrating finding games for more than 10 people, and having to double and triple orders. So, I've made this game for up to 25 guests. Please specify by email, after ordering, what you'd like on the envelopes, and how many winners you'd like. I'm very easy to work with if you'd like a larger order, don't hesitate to contact me. Included in your order: 25 Personalized Envelopes with winner and non-winner cards enclosed Instruction Sheet Story Sheet Winner envelopes will be seperated for you so you will know which ones they are. Stickers and decorations may vary but are all baby themed. Thanks For Looking!!

Re: Baby Shower ideas
Personally, I am not into themes or games for myself, but I have thrown baby showers at work with games.
We had a smallish shower at work and we did a game called Pin the Diaper on the Baby-it was pretty funny to watch adults do this one! Also trying to guess how big the mommy to be's belly is with ribbon is a cute game. One shower I went to (an LIF'er!) had a game where they froze little plastic babies in ice cubes and whomever got their baby out first won.
HTH!

Re: Baby Shower ideas
This is what my mom is planning for my shower in Sept. She played it at a friend's daughters shower and said everyone loved it. They passed around a stuffed Teddy Bear. Basically it s listening game and everytime you hear left/ right as a direction you pass the bear in that direction. You don't pass it when you hear Wright as a name.
LEFT RIGHT BABY SHOWER GAME STORY: Mrs. WRIGHT went into labor. Mr. WRIGHT prepared to take Mrs. WRIGHT RIGHT to the hospital. He was in such a hurry that he put his RIGHT shoe on his LEFT foot. Obviously, he was not in his RIGHT frame of mind. Mrs. WRIGHT grabbed her sweater from the LEFT hand side of the closet and they quickly LEFT the house for the hospital.
As Mr. WRIGHT approached the hospital, he noticed a detour sign. The LEFT turning lane was blocked so he turned RIGHT instead. Mr. WRIGHT drove RIGHT in front of the hospital entrance and helped Mrs. WRIGHT inside. As soon as they got inside the hospital he realized that he had LEFT the car running. He had to go RIGHT back outside to turn off the engine. He LEFT the car parked in front of the hospital and headed RIGHT back for the reception desk. As he approached the desk, he realized that he had LEFT the keys in the ignition. Panicked, he went RIGHT back to the car, but noticed that the LEFT driver side door was locked. Luckily Mrs. WRIGHT hadn't locked the RIGHT side door.
Mr. WRIGHT ran RIGHT back into the hospital again. Mrs. WRIGHT had been taken to the labor and delivery. The nurse instructed him to go down the blue hall and turn LEFT, RIGHT just passed the water fountain. By the time Mr. WRIGHT got to the room, Mrs. Wright was already pushing, so the Dr. asked Mr. WRIGHT to stand on the RIGHT side of Mrs. Wright’s bed and hold her RIGHT hand.
Mrs. WRIGHT looked RIGHT into Mr. WRIGHT’s eyes and asked, Where is the video camera? Oh no, said Mr. WRIGHT, I LEFT it at home! Mrs. WRIGHT closed her eyes and said, RIGHT now, you are not my favorite person. It might be better if you just LEFT the room. LEFT? Ask Mr. WRIGHT. That wouldn't be RIGHT at all. I'm staying here with you. RIGHT then, Mrs. WRIGHT screamed and squeezed Mr. WRIGHT’s LEFT hand really tight.
Mrs. WRIGHT had the baby! Mr. WRIGHT passed out. The nurses ran RIGHT over to him and placed him in a chair. When he came to, he saw Mrs. WRIGHT holding twins. A baby boy was on her LEFT arm and a baby girl was on her RIGHT. Mrs. WRIGHT was smiling and Mr. WRIGHT was too. Not only had they been blessed to have one WRIGHT baby, now they had two.

Re: Baby Shower ideas
Something we did for my sister's baby shower, which they in turn did for mine:
Price is Right Game: My sisters bought a bunch of small necessities off my registry, such as A&D ointment, q-tips, nail files, spoons, pacifiers, rattles, bibs, etc. They separated them into two baskets, which I also registered for. They listed out what was in each basket, and made the guests guess the cost of all the items in the basket. The closest to the actual cost without going over won a prize. The game benefitted me too because it was all stuff I needed and registered for!
Guess the Number of Diapers: They put a whole bunch of newborn diapers in a basket. They actually used more than one package of diapers, because the younger, savvy moms knew the quantity of diapers in a package, and they didn’t want to make it too easy. The closest guess without going over won a prize. Once again, another game that benefitted me because I got to keep the diapers.
Baby scratch off lottery tickets: No trick to this one. They bought them online. I think they come in a package of 10, with one winning ticket. The key is to try to space out the winning tickets amongst the guests so someone at each table wins.
For prizes my sister went to Bath & Body works and bought several different hand soaps, shower gels, and lotions. She packaged them up nicely in gift bags. She made sure to have 2 extra prizes in case there were some ties, which there were.

Re: Baby Shower ideas
My baby shower was a duck theme. I did everything in blue and yellow. I had balloon centerpieces as well as stuffed animal ducks. The favors were floating duck candles and duck shaped chocolate chip cookies. The only games we did were to set a timer during the gift opening and whoever's gift I was opening at that time got a prize. I did a giess how many jelly beans in the baby bottle. And the string thing. Everyone cut string as big as they thought I was around. Whoever was closest got a prize.

Re: Baby Shower ideas
We did the onesie decorating thing at mine and it was a big hit. My sister bought packs of plain onesies in different sizes, fabric narkers and stencils...people could do their own design or use the stencils if they needed more help being creative. Some of the ideas were really cute and everyone liked doing it!

Re: Baby Shower ideas
For my SIL's shower, I was in charge of games. Since she was on team, we did a garden party theme (it was a summer shower). The colors were orange, purple, green and yellow.
We held a baby shower game olympics (in honor of last summer's olympics). We divided the guests in to 4 teams - each was one of the party colors. Each member of the team participated in one of the games. We had a cardboard scoreboard to keep track of each teams stats. The games were:
-Baby bottle drinking contest (we filled 2 oz. of apple juice in the bottles) -Baby food guessing game (with labels removed, they had to guess the falvor - we kept it nice) -Baby dipaering contest (we just used stuffed animals - they had to change a diaper as fast as possible) -Pinata contest (we had 4 pinatas from a baby shower website strung up - it was hilarious) -Relay race (which consisted of: (a) walking to one end of the yard with a pillow strapped to your belly, (b) taking off the pillow and bringing baby home - just carrying a decorated hard-boiled egg on a spoon to the other end), (c) answering 3 trivia questions correctly and (d) singing 2 verses of hush little baby.
It was a fun day and hysterical to watch!
