Do you think feeding her cereal at night will help her sleep through?

Re: Back to waking at 4am

So are we. We had a good 6 weeks of sleeping 12 hours at night with only one small waking for milk, but the last 3 nights she has been waking every 3 hours. It's definitely a growth spurt. I'd wait about 5 days or so... that's usually how long these things last.

So you don't think the cereal will help?

Re: Back to waking at 4am

How old is she?

ETA- right before Ryan hit 4 months... he started waking in the middle of the night starving (where previously he would sleep 12hrs straight through) He was getting a min. of 32oz of formula a day....and yet still was starving in the middle of the night.... I then knew it was time for cereal...

I believe if the child was sleeping through the night...and stops because of hunger then he/she is prob ready...

However- If your child never sleeps through the night...and you just wanna give cereal to make them- I dont think it works... (def learned that the hard way Chat Icon )

cereal does not help them sleep through the night. It's normal for them to regress here and there....teething, change of schedule, growth spurts all contribute - with Talia I usually give it a few days - if it continues past that then I deal with it - usually it's only 1-3 days.

Re: Back to waking at 4am

Considering that my one year old is waking at 4 am to eat this week despite eating lots and lots of solids I don't think that cereal is going to make a difference. To be honest, I don't think your expectations are reasonable. While some people are lucky and their babies happen to sleep straight through the night, many many many others do not. (Or do, and then do not, and then do again...)

She is 4 months old. The ped gave us the go ahead for cereal, we tried it and she seemed to like it but we have not made it a regular thing yet.

Honestly-I would go for it...

I was in the same situation....and he stopped waking for hunger... (again he already slept through the night reg.)

Cereal is not going to help her sleep through the night. Everything I have read says that and it holds true for us. Miranda eats solids 2-3 times a day and still wakes at 11pm and 5am to eat. Chat Icon
