Re: back with godmother poll...my sisters
thanks.
yes we are Irish. Thank God I married into a non-Catholic Puerto Rican family. That gives me more people to use in my family.
So the fact that coleen is a godmother already shouldn't matter? I can see your point.

I really don't think it should matter. She's godmother to your cousin, right? Maybe if it were your niece or nephew I would think twice, but not when it's your cousin (not even your immediate family) Am I making sense? I think if she is the best choice (you're closest to her and she'll be a great godmother, etc) it should not matter that someone else (I'm guessing your aunt?) picked her first.

Re: back with godmother poll...my sisters
Immediately I thought the older sister. Then I gave it a good hard thinking. Here's another spin on it.....when I think of godmothers, along with spirituality I think, "Is this the person who I would leave my child with if something were to happen to us?" This kind of cleared some of ideas as far as who to pick. I my mind my children's godparents are the people we would consider the most, god forbid my children needed be taked care of. You do have a tough choice. Good luck!

Re: back with godmother poll...my sisters
thanks! I just thought of something else.
The actual day of the baptism. Would you pick one who has the best chance of attending?
That would probably be Irene or Karen.
Coleen will have school, she could probably come for the weekend though.
I would have to buy Karen's ticket.
Tammy will be in Wyoming...maybe she would fly in.

I picked Irene since she is the youngest and will be around the most.

Re: back with godmother poll...my sisters
Okay...I am going to be different and say the 3rd sister ONLY bc you said she is the most like you and you are the closest. THOUGH...keep in mind she already has a godchild so you might want to go with eldest.

I bet whoever you pick will make sure they can be there. It sounds like you're still really unsure. You still have awhile to decide. I would try to stop thinking about it for a few days/weeks and see how you feel. My top choice would be Coleen, second Irene.

Re: back with godmother poll...my sisters
I would pick Coleen over Karen.
For various reasons.
1-If Coleen was upset she wasnt your MOH the most out of the rest of your sisters, then how upset would she be if shes not the godmother.
2-You are also a lot closer to Coleen as well.
3-Just b/c your sister Karen is a nun, doesnt technically mean shes the best suited than the rest.
A godmother is God forbid something should happen to the both of you, the godmother is usually next in line to take care of the child. If Karen is living in a convent, would they even allow that???
Just my opinion.....but I think Coleen would be your best choice.
Good luck.

Just hypothetically... if you didn't have 4 sisters, who would you pick.
I'm sorry if I'm making this harder for you, I'm just wondering.
I have been thinking about your question, I just don't know. I will contemplate more.
hijacking my own post: Are you moving to Cary, NC? It is gorgeous there!!
Yes, I can't wait... neighbor!

I voted for your oldest sister, only because a godparent is a spiritual guider.. You gave life to your child, a godparent gives spiritual guidance. Just something to think about.
Well said!!! I totally agree!!!
