Starting to plan my sisters Baby Shower... need some suggestions on places!
She asked me to have it at Villa Lombardis She's crazy!
Since I am footing most of the bill myself I need a place: - Around $30 per person - Afternoon or Brunch Party (can be a sat or sun, late sept. or early oct.) - 100 people - Private Room - Suffolk County
I also need some ideas for Favors and any other good ideas/advice you will have to share. This will be the first grandchild for my mom and her MIL/FIL, the first great-granchild for both sets of grandparents, and will be the first Great-great-grandchild for my great-grandmother (the baby will also be named after her if it is a girl) So many people are very excited for this baby so I want to make her shower very special for everybody.

Try Nocello in Northport. I know they have a brunch on Sunday's, and I don't think it's too expensive.
ETA: My bridal shower was just at nocello, and they were looking at the possibility of a brunch... and my MOH said she believed it was 18.95/pp
We had the lunch there - but it was great. Really nice, and the food was wonderful.
Apparently it was $22 and change/pp for a lunch on a saturday. And the brunch was a little less she said.

I had my shower at the Bellport Country Club. It was amazing. The food, the atmosphere, the service and the price. I highly recommend them.

$3000 plus tips for a baby shower?
Thats a whole lot of money! You could buy her a whole nursery for that price?
Try The Irish Coffee Pub in East Islip. I had my bridal shower there..about 45 people..was around $25 pp I think. They have larger rooms for more people. My MOH had her baby shower there, it was great. the food is amazing. It usually salad, past and choice of 3 entrees.

Re: Starting to plan my sisters Baby Shower... need some suggestions on places!
No suggestion on a place, but the favors at my shower were the little plastic gerber baby bottles (3 or 4 oz size - they come 3 to a pack at BRU) filled with those square pastel mints and a pink or a blue ribbon tied to the top that said Cathy's Baby Shower and the date. People thought they were really cute!
For centerpieces, my mom did cabbage plants in pink and blue bowls. You know - the baby being from the cabbage patch?

I have been to a few showers there and it was pretty crowded... I don't know if 100 people would fit comfortably. Actualy I have never been in the room closets to the bathrooms... is that a big one?

Hmm, we were in the back, I think we had about 60... i could see where it would be crowded for 100 tho.

for my cousins shower, the centerpieces were bowls of blue jello with rubber duckies on top. For favors we had rattle cookies I made and CDs where every song had the word baby in it!
Irish Coffee Pub is amazing and in that price range! I had hte most amazing shower there, they have all size rooms! People are constanly telling me (a year later) that it was the best shower they had ever been to!

I don't know if you know this but Irish Coffee House and Bellport Country Club are owned by the same people and are in the same price range.

For a place, I suggest Blackwells iin Wading River. They have amazing food and service. I had my sister's brunch shower there. it was SO elegant and beautiful and really special with great food.
I have a really cute idea for a baby shower centerpiece/favor. FM me if you want details.
ETA: Blackwells was I think more in the $20-25 range

Re: Starting to plan my sisters Baby Shower... need some suggestions on places!
I'm not sure where you live, however, my bridal shower was at Tello's in Huntington. They have a private room upstairs and the food is excellent and the price is reasonable.
Also in Huntington, is the Oak Room at Meehan's. You get a large private room and they too are pretty reasonable.
There's also Pappa Joe's in Deer Park that is good and reasonable and again, they have a large party room.
I believe we had a buffet at both of my showers (bridal & baby).
For centerpieces, you may want to check out LTD commodities. You can sometimes get some cute ideas there and they are pretty reasonable. For my SIL's shower, they had these really adorable bunnies and one was a momma bunny holding a baby bunny and it said welcome and the other was a dad bunny doing the same. We placed them in the center of the table and they were perfect. They weren't a favor, however, at least one person from the table was able to take it home. What was nice about it was her shower was around Easter so it was nice to use as a decoration at home.
If you need more info on the restaurants mentioned above let me know.

PaPa Joe's in Deer Park (right on Commack Road, across from Kohl's, Home Depot - close to the LIE for travelling guests)... It's AWESOME Italian food, and everyone there is so nice and accomodating. It's one of my favorite places - EXTREMELY affordable.

For my baby shower in Maine on Saturday...I bought pastel colored Umbrellas and tyed a beautiful tag around them in Rafia for the favor....they look really nice and who couldn't use an extra Umbrella?
Good luck on planning the shower! They are so many great places on LI to have it! I also second the Bellport Country Club! It's where my engagement party was held...beautiful place with a beautiful view of the golf course!

Re: Starting to plan my sisters Baby Shower... need some suggestions on places!
Timber Point Country Club or Smithtown Landing should be in that price range and can accomodate that # of people. Plus, you won't feel "lost" in the room at TP.
Smithtown landing has 2 rooms I believe and is on the Nissequoge River.
What about Sunset Harbour in Patchogue? Snapper Inn?
both were mentioned while we were planning our weddings as relatively inexpensive.

I was also going to say the Bellport Country Club. I had my wedding there - it was great (Irish Coffee Pub too). They are so great there - you can do what ever you want.
I went to a shower this past weekend - it was a rubber ducky theme - it was so cute. They had little rubber duckies on the table, ballons and the favors were yellow chocolate duckies and a duck cookie cutter with mints in them wrapped with tully.

You can do a book wishing well instead of a regular one
I dont know of any suffolk places but I used the private party room at the ground round for mine in levittown and it was around the price range your looking for.
those rattle/big balloon centerpieces are nice, I had a marble notebook passed around mine that I decorated w/ baby stuff and everyone signed and offered baby advise

That was another thing that I resently saw. Instead of giving cards - giving a book to the baby instead. The guest signs the book and when the baby gets old enough they will know who gave them the book. I have a little saying that they put in my invitation - if you would like it

Re: Starting to plan my sisters Baby Shower... need some suggestions on places!
Julie-
i am in the process of planning a baby shower for my sister... i booked mine at La Parma in Oceanside so I think its too far from where you want.. Heres what Im doing:
chocolate lollipop favors- in the shape of a carriage- orderd them from a gourmet chocolate store.. not too bad either with the $$- im paying for my sisters shower as well!!!
flower pots on the tables will be filled with M&M's the colors of her shower light green and yellow- ordering on m&m.com custom colors the lollipops will be put into the pots to create a centerpiece for each table- its a combo of a centerpiece and favors- im buying balloons also to stick into the pot as well. got that cute idea from my hairdresser.
I am also doing a baby library wishing well. Along with the invitation, I sent a poem explaining the wishing well- typed it and printed on yellow paper and used my fancy teacher scissors to cut a border. stuck it inthe envelope withthe invitation.. FM me if you want the poem-
I ordered the invites online- really cute invites
I am doing a clotheline with all different types of baby clothes attached to it... hats, socks, cute holiday outfits.. the close family and friends are each buying something for the clotheline....
i I hope this helps!!! if you need anything else or if you have any ideas, please fm me!!!

We did the book library for my SIL too. I was able to find a real nice book shelf that matched her furniture and we brought it to the shower to display all the books.
