Bad reaction to yogurt?

We gave DD yogurt (Yo Baby) for the first time 3 days ago. She LOVES it! She has been getting bored w/ the solids, and this was the first thing I've seen her really enjoy in a long time.

Today was our 3rd day giving her yogurt for lunch. We were running errands before, and all of a sudden she threw up ALLLLLL over herself and the carseat Chat Icon It smelled very sour. Then, just as we were figuring out what to do about the SOAKED carseat, she pooped and blew out all over DH Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Do you guys think she could have had a bad reaction to the yogurt? She's almost 8 months.

I don't want to stop giving it to her because she REALLY like it, but I obviously don't want to give it to her if it's making her sick.

Re: Bad reaction to yogurt?

I have noticed that DD spits up a lot when she eats yogurt. She also loves it, but without fail, she will throw up. I limit it to 2X a week now.

Re: Bad reaction to yogurt?

I would think if she was allergic it would have happened a few days ago. I find with Jack - sometimes if he has something heavy (whether it be milk, or yogurt) and then goes right in the car sometimes he will throw up. It may not have settled in her stomach just yet!

Thanks everyone...I was happy we had found something to give her mid-day, but maybe we should put the brakes on it for a while... Chat Icon

Try o'soy or silk yogurt. She may not be ready to digest the dairy even though you are giving her milk based formula or are BF and have no problems with dairy.

Re: Bad reaction to yogurt?

I noticed when I first started giving them the yogurt, they would poop a lot afterwards, now they are pretty normal. They LOVE it, I give it to them every day.

I did wonder about that...when our ped. said we could start giving her yogurt, I was kinda like Chat Icon--I know we can't give her regular milk until 1 year, and this falls pretty much into the same category...

Re: Bad reaction to yogurt?

A friend just found out her DD is allergic to milk. When she had given her a couple of spoonfuls of yogurt, her DD threw it up almost immediately afterwards. It can take a couple of introductions to a food before an allergy shows. I'd probably give it to her again though since she didn't react the first two days. Chat Icon

I was going to suggest the same thing. DS has a dairy allergy, so we give him the vanilla O'soy. All of the O'soy yogurts I have found are fruit on the bottom, so I just buy vanilla and mix in some pureed fruit. He LOVES it and has never thrown up from it. I give him 2 oz at lunch and 2 oz at dinner.

If you can find the 6 pack of O'soy peach/strawberry, it is blended like regular yobaby so their is no fruit on the bottom.
My DD has a dairy allergy so I gave her soy from the begging.
