Re: BAD Sunburn-- Remedies??
I just have to say I totally know what you are going through. I've had a bunch of serious burns and I am very fair.....I had it so bad on my legs one day from walking around central park in capris....I still had a line on my legs a year later...it was horrible...DH had to CARRY me to the bathroom b/c the skin on my legs wouldn't move and it hurt so bad. Whatever you do don't exfoliate! Aloe aloe aloe and start using Lubriderm lotion with spf 15 everyday on your body and use something else on your face!

Re: BAD Sunburn-- Remedies??
You don't need to go to the dermatologist...take a Tylenol for the chills (your body temp is obviously elevated) and put on sour cream...it sucks up the heat and makes you peel faster...also, I would take a day off tomorrow and just relax at home.

You can get something called Silver-Deen, something like that, from a dr. It's really good stuff used in hospitals.

I have had many 2nd degree sunburns in my life... If it is that bad and I have cuts, they give me Silvadene cream for the cuts and I take Prednisone, but that's only if I can't breathe b/c the sunburn is so bad... I would load up on the aloe and lanacane for now for you!
that's the stuff! and word on the prednisone, I got that once too, it really helped.

Re: BAD Sunburn-- Remedies??
the green gel aloe sour cream, yogurt, or a milk bath: will all take the sting out... tylenol will help with the chills...get a body and face moisterizer with at least 15 spf.

Re: BAD Sunburn-- Remedies??
The 2 times I have gotten sun poisioning I sat in a cold bath (it hurt a lot) which will assist in taking the sting out (my dad swears vinegar will help do that too but its too smelly for me) Also get some kind of allow based cream and put it in the fridge. Also stay hydrated. I know with me I was so bad I was throwing up. Good Luck!!!

Re: BAD Sunburn-- Remedies??
I got a REALLY bad one last year. I could barely walk without pain. Lanacain and aloe both really helped the pain.

Re: BAD Sunburn-- Remedies??
When I was little, I got sunburns just as you describe all the time. Chills, sweats and all. My mom always used to put Noxzema on me and it took the sting of the sunburn away almost instantly.

Re: BAD Sunburn-- Remedies??
Soothacaine. Its blue stuff in a bottle- works pretty well!
I have also heard of filling up the bathtub and throwing tea bags in. Suppoedly the acid takes the sting out.
