baked french toast recipe. night before?
I know there are a few recipes out there. Do I have to make it the night before? Is it better than if I just make it in the morning? I don't like it mushy. Any advice on this dish would be appreciated! I just want it to be perfect!

I always make mine the night before...otherwise its just not as soaked into the bread and there are some dry spots.

Even with the bown sugar butter on the bottom? It doesn't get weird?

Re: baked french toast recipe. night before?
This is what I did. Dissolve 1 cup of brown sugar and 1 tbsp of cinnmon into 1 stick of melted butter and spread on the bottom of a greased 9x13 dish. Lay thick slices of challah bread packed tightly on the bottom. Sprinkle a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon lightly covering the bread. Place the second layer of challah bread (I cubed this layer bc the slices I had left didn't cover, and I actually think it looked better anyway). Mix 6 large eggs and 2 cups of milk (I used 2 percent) and 1 tsp of vanilla and cover bread completely. Cover and refrigerate over night. Bake covered for 30 min. Then uncovered for 15. Drizzle maple syrup on top and place in oven for another 5 min. So amazing!!
