BAKED french toast recipe

Hi guys, I just wanted to share this recipe that I made on Sunday morning and it was so easy to make and it came out so delicious! I used hallah bread instead and I also put sliced bananas between the layers...Here's the link:

I'm actually making this recipe right now, I'm having friends for brunch so this is ideal! This is my third time making it, I haven't done with regular bread tough, only with hallah bread and it comes out amazing! On my last one I added banana and strawberries, it was so good, everybory raved (just be careful with the broiler part, it does go VERY quick)

Re: BAKED french toast recipe

Ok...just made this & it was a huge hit! I've made MANY baked french toast recipes from here & this was by far the best & super easy. I like that it doesn't need to sit in the fridge overnight too!

I made it with the bananas in between the slices - great addition! I also used 1 & 1/2 cups of milk & 1/2 cup of OJ for a citrus flavor...I think next time I'll try 1 & 1 for more of a punch.

Great recipe!Chat Icon

ETA: I also didn't cut the crusts off of the bread. We both like crust & it got crispy under the broiler...Chat Icon

ok so I want to go ahead and make this today, but DH is at work - can I make it, eat my share and put the rest into the fridge to microwave or heat in the oven again later?????? I would hate for it to go to waste.

Yes, sometimes we had leftovers and we put in the fridge and then just heated in the oven, not as good as when it's fresh but still good :)

Wow, ok so I just made it and am having a piece right now.

I made half of it just as the recipe calls for, and on half of the side of the baking dish, I put slices of banana in between the bread slices.

YUMMMMMMMMMMM. I think I like it with the banana slices better (I'm having a small piece of each).

The only thing is... I don't think I baked it long enough. I used whole wheat sliced bread, about 12 slices, and only poured about 2/3 of the egg/milk mixture because it seemed like too much.

Baked for a bit over 35 minutes, then did the syrup/broiler part.

The middle of the french toast is still a bit mushy and doesn't really have color - the outside is a bit toasty, I just feel like maybe the inside isn't fully cooked?? Or is it supposed to be like that? I'm eating it (I hope it's not undercooked!!!).

Re: BAKED french toast recipe

I made this for dinner tonight! I used evaporated milk and a quarter cup of sweetened condensed milk instead of plain milk. I also added a teaspoon and a half of vanilla. I melted syrup and butter together before drizzling on the toast and broiling.

I served it with ambrosia and turkey bacon.

It was very nice! My boys LOVED it.

Just have to pull up this post to say that I made this recipe Father's Day morning.........DELICIOUS!!!!!!!

But since DH and I are trying to watch what we eat.....I gave all the leftovers to my FIL......Chat Icon

I wish I kept a little piece......to see how good it is the next day. I hate leftovers but I have a feeling I would have liked this. Chat Icon

I can't wait to make this again.......very easy. I sprinkled a little nutmeg too. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon and I also lined one side w/ sliced banana.
