Bamboo flooring
Does anyone have it and what brand do you have? Any scratching with dog nails? Kids?

Re: Bamboo flooring
We have it in the entire house. The previous owner installed it. I would never get it, if I could choose. It is very easy to scratch and dent.

Re: Bamboo flooring
It's all in the brand. http://teragren.com/ floor is nearly impossible to scratch. It's stronger than any hardwood on the planet. I give samples to friends and tell them to hit it with a hammer. Very few people can put any mark at all on it....
Even if I do scratch it, it's only the clearcoat that gets scratched, not the actual bamboo, so it's easy to just touch up any clearcoat "gouges" with a little poly or something.
My contractor had to get special nails when he installed it because the nails that he'd been using for decades just wouldn't go into the bamboo....

Its definately in the brand. the harder bamboo is called "stranded" the regular stuff isn't as hard. However, there is the hardness of the wood and the quality/hardness of the finish.
the cheaper bamboo, and any wood for that matter, can have a cheaper finish that is more prone to scratching.
you can have the hardest wood in the world, that will only stop gouging and dents, scratches, its all in the finish, as well as how well the wood hides the scratches.

Re: Bamboo flooring
We just installed the Mohawk Strand Bamboo floors in our living room, dining room, hallway and bedroom. We have 2 big dogs and a toddler. We dont have any scratches and its been 4 months, but I feel like it could scratch. I think because its new we're very carefull. I absolutely love the way it looks.
