Baptism - donations in Catholic Church
My son's baptism is this weekend; just curious how much is appropriate to donate to the church? They gave us an envelope and I'm guessing people give what they can.

Thanks - yes, I know it's for me to give, I meant that I'm guessing people, meaning people who are having their babies baptized, will give what they can depending on what they can afford. DH was thinking $50, and I wasn't sure if we should give more.

Re: Baptism - donations in Catholic Church
No particular amount was suggested to us. We gave $100. Our ceremony was not a Mass, it was later in the day and was just the baptism, so no donation baskets were circulated.

Re: Baptism - donations in Catholic Church
We had a private Christening. We had to ask the deacon to perform the ceremony. I think we gave the church $100.00 and the deacon a thank you card with $50.00.
eta: give what you can afford

Re: Baptism - donations in Catholic Church
We gave $100 and they're lucky they got that. They were very difficult to work with and I still don't have a Baptismal Certificate yet. I received 2 so far...the first had my last name wrong and the second had Rylans name spelled wrong
