Get the bathroom - and I'd even go for a shower, too, if you can.

We have a finished basement that serves many functions for us - it's my workspace during the day, toyroom for kids, bar/den area for weekends plus it's our guest room because of a pull-out sofa bed. When my parents sleep over, it's considered their own apartment, when my husband's band practices, I don't want the guys to have to come upstairs to use the main floor bathrooms, and when the kids are outside playing or we're having a BBQ, people just come in the basement entrance to quickly use that bathroom.

If you plan to stay in the home, I would do it. what about when the kids get older and have friends over all the time. my thought would be they will be hanging out down there. Do you want 14-17 year olds traipsing through your house to use the bathroom. I wouldn't ;)
