Bath time - WWYD?

So James loves the bath. Like LOOOOOVES the bath. He gets so excited to be in the tub that it's so hard to get him out - he cries, kicks and screams. We even have to keep the door to the bathroom closed because even when when he just sees the tub he goes bonkers.

My problem with this is that he gets so riled up before bedtime that he can't settle down. It's like he gets his second wind after he's all fresh and clean. Putting him to bed lately has been atrocious.

I gave him his bath right after dinner tonight and then he still had a good 2 hours to play and tire himself out - I'm wondering how it's going to go - DH is up there putting him down right now.

Did anyone else have this problem where their DC gets extremely hyper after their bath? What did you do? Bathing him in the morning seems to work, but it's not going to be an option once I go back to work in September.

I was going to say the morning, but you said you can't in Sept. What if you either a) make bath a little earlier and then read books after to get back to quiet? b) make bath before dinner (may be weird)?
