I worry about that too for some reason.
- Our door is ALWAYS open
- Boys room door is always open
- Baby's room door is always closed (with video monitor)
I have always felt so uncomfortable with the doors being closed. Even before kids. We also have 2 big dogs so I like to have them to be able to walk around the house if need be in the middle of the night.
I also, no matter where we live, always have had my DH sleep on the side of the bed closest to the door. Don't ask me why, I just feel safer.

Ours is closed but not latched DS's is closed all the way. DS is such a light sleeper and hears us moving around. The door definitely makes a lot of noise opening and shutting so we just leave it!

When it was just Rylan closed at all times but now than Xavier shares a room and wakes 5888653245789 times a night it starts off closed then I leave it open enough for me to sqeeze in and out because it sqeaks. Need some WD40...lol.
