Re: bedroom doors open or closed @ night

We keep DDs door closed for fire safety reasons and as a barrier to noise in the house when we are awake after she goes down.

doors closed, monitors on, cats roam freely Chat Icon

we have a ranch... doors have to be closed even if there were no pets unless we went to bed at 8pm like the girls. our bedroom door is open at night.

Re: bedroom doors open or closed @ night

I had the doors closed until my 3 year old started getting scared and wanted it open at night.

Re: bedroom doors open or closed @ night

Closed. He shares a wall with our living room so we would definitely keep him awake.

And, we have a dog who I know would go in there and bother the crap out of him.

DD's is only open a crack for air circulation and to keep the cat out.

All doors open. We use a space heater in the hallway to save on oil. If we closed any doors someone would freeze!

Re: bedroom doors open or closed @ night

We keep his door closed. 1 - it's a fire safety issue 2 - our house is very old and the hardwood floors are very squeaky and we wanted to try to keep it a touch quieter in his room. Chat Icon

Her door is usually left open a crack. We don't pull it shut.

Same here. I only close it at nap time.

My DD's door is closed at night but ours is open. We keep ours open so that she can get in to us if needed.

DD's is closed. Some awesome wives of firefighters on here recommended it when I asked when DD was born.

Re: bedroom doors open or closed @ night

closed. we have a cat and i worry she'll try to snuggle with dd at night (she's 11 weeks old.) i think she sleeps better with it closed. she gets some white noise from the humidifier and she's been sleeping much longer on her own in there.

Re: bedroom doors open or closed @ night

we started closing it when the a/c went on it june... then i tried leaving it slightly ajar after they went off but ds can now reach the door from his crib and he was opening it up, which resulted in him being able to see me in bed... and once that happened we were up for the day (even if it was 3am)

Re: bedroom doors open or closed @ night

Closed. Fire safety, and to discourage DC from wandering around the house at night. We're not worried about the noise keeping them up (we actually want them to be used to noises in the house), but if the doors are open, they think they have to get up and see what's going on.

Re: bedroom doors open or closed @ night

I leave both ours and DS's door OPEN....not sure why....we are only a next door....but I guess i feel more comfortable. Eventually, maybe I will shut DS's door....but I will probably always leave mine open....I don't like the feeling of being "closed it."

was closed until recently....now that the heat comes on, it gets too hot in DD's bedroom, so once DH and I go to bed, we open DD's door, but when she first goes in, it's closed

kinda the same for us. except i noticed she sleeps better with the door closed, so Ive been trying to keep it closed, and will open during the night if it starts to feel warm, and will check the temp of her room when i get up at night.

our door is always closed. i can't sleep with the door open.

Re: bedroom doors open or closed @ night

Hers is closed cause she goes to bed before us and the TV is still on (apt)

Ours is open, our cats litter is in our bathroom so we dont want them shut in with us all night.
