Best airline for kids flying alone?
Contemplating sending my kids to grandmas in Florida for a week in August. Is there an airline that's better for this? And what is the additional fee for an unaccompanied minor?

I frequently see young children flying solo on Southwest -- the workers always appear to be great with them.

Re: Best airline for kids flying alone?
my DS (8 yrs old) JUST left yesterday by himself on Southwest.
I chose them b.c their Unaccompanied Minor fee was the cheapest, the airfare was the cheapest and NO BAGGAGE fees!
The staff at Southwest was VERY helpful and comforting.
We (DH & I) were able to get passes from the ticket counter (at check in) so we went thru security and stayed at the gate, until the plane leaves (That is the airlines policy).
This was DS' 1st time flying solo - he wouldn't admit it, but I knew he was nervous. Until he found out there were 2 other boys flying solo (ages 7 & 10). They all sat together in the front.
The flight was non stop to Atlanta, which is required for certain ages.
They give the kids a lanyard to wear around their neck with their documentation. At check in, they ask how many carry on bags he has, I had to sing the paper attesting to that, and when my dad received DS on the other end, he had to sign to attest the same, so he didn't forget anything.
As for how the flight was, all I got out of him was "It was good. We played and talked. I had 2 cups of soda"
