best airlines/rates to Myrtle Beach
My inlaws just purchased a condo in Myrtle Beach. We would love to go in the summer, but the airfare seems pretty ridiculous (comparitively speaking.) It's about $225pp out of a major NY airport. We're going to Florida in June for $160pp flying out of our local airport. Does anyone have any good sites or can suggest a cheap airline. I suppose we could drive, but it would be a LONG drive with a 2.5yr old.

My sister lives down in Myrtle Beach. Spirit Airlines is what we typically fly. If you hit it right you can get as low as 9 dollar fares. Usually it requires you to fly out on a tuesday and back on another tuesday or wednesday to get the same rate back. www.spiritair.com. What they need to do is offer non stop out of Islip. It's horrible that no carrier flies straight through from ISP...ok sorry..rant over. You'll love it down there. We love it everytime we go.

Re: best airlines/rates to Myrtle Beach
We live in White Plains, so I'm waiting for them to add a direct out of Westchester, that would be great! I'm hoping to catch a deal at some point. Our days can be flexible, so if I find something cheap I'll probably just jump on it. Should I just go to Spirit daily and see when they have specials, or will they email me if I sign up?

I second Spirit. If you join their 9 dollar fare club ($9 for a three month trial and $40/year afterwards) you can get the deals Sean was referencing. They pretty much post deals weekly. They have the most non stop options.
We have a condo down there as well - I got a great deal last year and DH has gotten a few good ones as well.
The other airlines that are non stop to Myrtle include Delta, Continental (EWR) and Myrtle Beach Express.
ETA - Myrtle Beach Express is now Direct Air.

We are driving to MB in April with the 3 kids I havent found flights cheap enough to justify flying. Right now they are around $180 RT which is $900 for us. EEK!
