Re: Best educational DVDs for infants? (0-12 months)
AJ didn't/doesn't 'get' most of the stuff on TV just pretty shapes and sounds. She loves music and watching other children play.
However I can say educational-wise. Pre-School Prep Meet the Numbers is her FAVORITE. She stops all action and just stares at the screen. Sorta scary actually It just repeats the number over and over again with a lil music background and an object to represent the number, like 2 - her favorite, ...
A white screen with the number 2 in black. A person says two over and over with different emphasis and tones and speed. The 2 becomes blue and moves around the screen as this is going on. Then the 2 comes a character (still a 2 but with arms, legs, mouth, eyes, etc) and its in a scene with two cupcakes, two boys, two hats, two presents, two pictures. A little birthday tune plays and you hear the word two over and over as the 2 speaks it and tries to blow out the two candles on the two cupcakes. After 4 (go fig) tries it blows them out while saying two even MORE and finally one last 2 is said.
On to 3.
Sounded like brain washing to me but AJ loves it. Very simple images and no other context verbal except the numbers respectively.
She started at 10months and by few weeks she was laughing and pointing at the 2 and 'blowing' like the 2 does.
She also watches Meet the Colors and Meet the Letters. The letters she loses interest fast, the colors she'll manage through but the Numbers she LOVES.
Good Luck and remember they will learn more as they get older, no real need to rush them now...

I would forget the DVDs and go with CDs of music.

My kids really enjoyed Baby Beethoven and when they get their bottles before bed they watch Baby Lullaby. Both Einstein.
