Best steakhouse for anniversary dinner?
My Dh and I will be celebrating our anniversary soon.
We've never been to a really good steakhouse.
What do u recommend? We were leaning towards Peter Lugers.
We don't want to go into the city. Would prefer to stay local to the island. Tia!

I'm not a Peter Luger's fan - espeically for an anniversary. It's very loud and kind of rustic. Not at all a romantic type place - there, it's jsut all about the steak. Which I personally don't like b/c they drench it in butter.
I'd go w/ Morton's in Great Neck.
Ruth's Chris is in Garden City, also very good. But Morton's is my favorite.
If you're looking for something w/ some ambiance - Prime in Hungington is on the water ........
We also really enjoy Capital Grille - also in Garden City

Blackstone in Melville.
I personally think Prime is overrated. The food is not that good and there are some really obnoxious people there. DH have been a few times and vowed never to go back.
I have heard great things about Tellers also.

I agree with the recommendation for Morton's - I love their food.
Also, Jimmy Hays in Island Park is delicious!

Morton's is my pick! Last time I went to Rothman's i was disappointed, definitely prefer morton's. Teller's is good, but still like morton's better. Whenver I go to Prime i don't order steak, I don't really see it as a steakhouse. Capital grille is also very good.
ETA: burton and doyle is also very good.

I love Blackstone's in Melville!
We went to Capital Grille a couple of weeks ago with a few other couples... the food was good, and I liked it. But for the $$$, I think I've had better meals at Blackstone's. I think I would prefer the atmosphere of Blackstone's too, for a special night out.
We've also been to Rare 650 in Syosset (I think for an anniversary dinner a few years ago, or one of our birthdays), and I remember we liked it.

My favorite in Nassau is Burton & Doyle. I think the atmosphere is the most "romantic" too.

I thought Blackstone was too loud when we went last time. We couldn't hear each other  It was our 10th anniversary...
We love Jimmy Hayes and Frank's Steaks. Morton's is the best out of the higher end ones

Can't go wrong with Jimmy Hays in Island Park. We were there for NYE after so many years; still just as delicious; maybe even better!
Their Filet can feed 4!!

Capital Grille in NYC or Garden City!
DELISH!!! and the portions were huge!
My DH and I just went last week for our 10 yr anniversary and we split an app and a salad and they were huge portions even split!
My surf and turf was amazing!

Capital Grille is SO GOOD and was perfect when we went for our anniversary. It's part of Roosevelt Field Mall area. DH called ahead and told them it was our anniversary and they decorated the table, had champagne for us, a special anniversary dessert. And the food was so freakin' good!

Capital Grill is a Chain. They are all over every major city has one. I feel you get better food and service at a local restaurant.
Capital grill you pay for the name.

We love Insignia (Smithtown) and Tellers (Islip). I am also not a fan of Peter Luger's. I hate the way their tables are set up and the gruff waiters. Not my cup of tea.
