Best vacuum for hardwood floors?
We have a hoover windtunnel that's ancient and really heavy from when DH lived in an apt with full wall to wall carpet before we got married.
Now our apartment is all hardwood floors and linoleum in the kitchen, tile in the bathroom. We have a couple of area rugs.
I have severe allergies, so some kind of filtration is best.
Any suggestions?

we have an electrolux harmony- its like a little orange meatball... very light and easy to schlep around
we got it knowing that we would only have carpet in 1 room of our house
not sure how great it is regarding allergies/filtration, but i think it cleans pretty well

Shark Navigator Lift Away. Best vacuum ever!
My sister is allergic to short haired dogs and I have 2 (one is 100 lbs.) Before I got the new vacuum, she didn't last an hour in my house without wheezing and having to leave.
Now with the this vacuum, she is fine all day. It's fantastic

For all those who rec vacuums on this thread, are they all bagless or do any have bags? I prefer bags and need a vacuum too!

Really like our miele as well
Both do great on hardwood and carpet

I love my Shark Navigator Lift Away also. It's the white one, not the purple one. I got it at BB&B. We have hard wood floors, carpet in the bedroom and 2 cats. I love how easy it maneuvers around my furniture.
