BF Moms help - I'm ready to lose weight!

I just weighed myself for the 1st time since my 6 wk PP visit and the number hasn't budged much.

But, I'm always starving - always. Please suggest some BF-friendly snacks/meals, etc. I don't know what I can eat to fill me up so I end up so I eat hot pockets and crap.

I am going to get that Shred video and attempt to find 20-minutes to do it. Chat Icon We'll see about that

I need to lose 20lbs, ideally 30. I gained 60 lbs with each boy basically Chat Icon

Re: BF Moms help - I'm ready to loss weight!

I am in the same boat as you but my supply tanked when I tried to work out Chat Icon I tried doing an hour of yoga and I felt empty at night so I had to stop and ordered a half hour workout.

I am always hungry but found a lot of the time my body is confusing thirst and hunger so I always try drinking water before eating. I also picked up some Campbell soup at hand (chicken with mini noodles). I get the low sodium and it is only 80 calories I think. I also snack on celery or wheat thins and almonds. The weight isn't flying off but it is going down slowly.

Re: BF Moms help - I'm ready to loss weight!

I'm trying to lose the baby weight too!

In the morning, I've been eating oatmeal with about a tbsp of peanut butter and 1 sliced banana (made with silk vanilla light soy milk). I eat this around 6:30 and it keeps me full for SO long (about 3-4 hours). For my first snack, I have a 100 calorie snack of some kind - I'm loving the Special K Fruit Crisps (they taste like poptarts) or the chocolatey pretzel bars by Special K.

Then for lunch I've been having a veggie burger on a sandwich thin with sliced tomato & red onion... and also a salad (just lettuce, cucumber & tomato) with light dressing. That also keeps me full for a few hours.

Mid-afternoon I have another snack... maybe a 100 calorie popcorn or again something from Special K... I like their crackers... it's 17 of them for 90 calories.

Then I just try to make a fairly healthy dinner - and I try not to snack after dinner. If I do snack, I try to eat something like a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich, a few hershey kisses, etc. Something small but chocolately to satisfy my sweet tooth!

Re: BF Moms help - I'm ready to loss weight!

I eat a lot of proteins.

Turkey and chicken. I SHOULD eat more fish, but I always forget about that! Chat Icon I eat a lot of avocadoes, sweet potatoes.

I work out a lot so I'm super ravished. I could eat a whole chicken for dinner some nights Chat Icon

I've cut out dairy, cheese, milk, eggs.... from my diet, so that has definitely helped.

I can't really say I don't snack. Give me a bag of chips any day. I don't limit myself from the junk....or the Pop Tarts! (my slight obsession)

But since I'm working out I allow myself all those goodies Chat Icon

Re: BF Moms help - I'm ready to loss weight!

I joined Weight Watchers and it really helped me. I felt full after eating and made sure that I was eating enough while nursing.

Some snacks that filled me up- apple and string cheese, baby carrots and a laughing cow cheese, hummus.

I also made sure to eat a veggie with each meal, like spinach or broccoli.

Re: BF Moms help - I'm ready to loss weight!

I eat oatmeal everyday...and usually add walnuts with blueberries or banana or raisens (whatever I have on hand). Mid-day I have a grapefruit and plain almonds (usually rt after a do a video workout), before I go out with DS in the stroller for a walk. That holds me over for LONG time, I usually don't get a chance to eat lunch until 2-3. I usually eat a salad usually with avocado (I buy a bag of these each week and try to eat one a day) and cut up some cheese or put blue cheese or feta on top of the salad. I usually have chicken, lamb, fish or eggplant for dinner.

Oranges, and apples are great snacks inbetween

How do you prepare the turkey/chicken? I had DH grill me up a bunch of chicken to have in the house last week instead of hot pockets - but I got bored with it quickly.

Re: BF Moms help - I'm ready to loss weight!

Try freezing meals. I make meals on the weekend for freezing. For lunch or dinner I just defrost and its a great way to stick to my diet with very lttle effort. I also don't let myself snack unless I've had all of my fruit and veggie servings for the day.

A good way to fill yourself up for a while is to have a fruit smoothie. I have one every morning and I'm good until lunch.

I haven't lost any weight even though I follow my diet. I'm getting my thyroid checked soon.

I'll grill it up on the Foreman and then throw it in with some sauted veggies (saute then boil for a bit in veggie stock and white wine) add it all to some Barilla pasta.

Turkey I just eat lean turkey cold cuts rolled up for lunch with some avocado.

I agree. The plan with the extra points allotted due to BFing REALLY helped. Plus the *new* plan really stresses the importance of eating "filling" foods.

I have a few stand by meals that are super easy.

Santa Fe Chicken
* 24 oz (1 1/2) lbs chicken breast
* 14.4 oz can diced tomatoes with mild green chilies
* 15 oz can black beans
* 8 oz frozen corn
* 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
* 14.4 oz can fat free chicken broth
* 3 scallions, chopped
* 1 tsp garlic powder
* 1 tsp onion powder
* 1 tsp cumin
* 1 tsp cayenne pepper (to taste)
* salt to taste

Combine chicken broth, beans, corn, tomatoes, cilantro, scallions, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, cayenne pepper and salt in the crock pot. Season chicken breast with salt and lay on top. Cook on low for 10 hours or on high for 6 hours. Half hour before serving, remove chicken and shred. Return chicken to slow cooker and stir in. Adjust salt and seasoning.

Serving size- 1 cup 5ww points
-------------------------

Crockpot Chicken Chili
* 1 onion, chopped
* 1 16-oz can black beans
* 1 16-oz can kidney beans
* 1 8-oz can tomato sauce
* 10 oz package frozen corn kernels
* 2 14.5-oz cans diced tomatoes w/chilies
* 1 packet taco seasoning
* 1 tbsp cumin
* 1 tbsp chili powder
* 24 0z. (3) boneless skinless chicken breasts
* chili peppers, chopped (optional)
* chopped fresh cilantro

Combine beans, onion, chili peppers, corn, tomato sauce, cumin, chili powder and taco seasoning in a slow cooker. Place chicken on top and cover. Cook on low for 10 hours or on high for 6 hours. Half hour before serving, remove chicken and shred. Return chicken to slow cooker and stir in. Top with fresh cilantro. Also try it with low fat cheese and sour cream (extra points).

Serving size- 1 cup 5ww points

-------------------------

Turkey Taco Lettuce Wraps

I freeze the taco meat and assemblle it when I defrost it

* 1.3 lbs 99% lean ground turkey
* 1 tsp garlic powder
* 1 tsp cumin
* 1 tsp salt
* 1 tsp chili powder
* 1 tsp paprika
* 1/2 tsp oregano
* 1/2 small onion, minced
* 2 tbsp bell pepper, minced
* 3/4 cup water
* 1/2 8 oz can tomato sauce
* 8 large lettuce leaves from Iceberg lettuce

Brown turkey in a large skillet. When no longer pink add dry seasoning and mix well. Add onion, pepper, water and tomato sauce and cover. Simmer on low for about 20 minutes.

Wash and dry the lettuce. Place meat in the center of leaf and roll.

2 wraps=3 ww points

Re: BF Moms help - I'm ready to lose weight!

I drink a TON of water. Sometimes I would mistake thirst for hunger so now I always drink a 32 oz cup of water before eating anything. I always have the 100 cal packs and the 90 cal Special K bars on hand. I also eat oatmeal twice a day. I've decreased the servings of carbs. I add more veggies and a portion and a half of the protein. I haven't started working out yet. Hoping to start the 30 day shred this weekend. We're getting the Wii Fit very soon. I've only been walking in the mall for the past week. I've lost enough weight that I am fitting into my pre-preggo pants but they are TIGHT. But I had gained a large amt of weight while doing IF treatment so I have at least 30 pds to lose. I still wear some of my maternity tops b/c my breasts are still HUGE. I'm sure those babies alone weigh about 10 pounds!Chat Icon

Re: BF Moms help - I'm ready to lose weight!

Do you get Parents magazine--this issue there was a nice article on how to lose baby weight and snack ideas if you are breastfeeding. Right now I am eating either oatmeal or something with peanut butter for breakfast to keep me full.....always a big turkey sandwich on light wheat for lunch....my snacks are usually almonds, raisons, trailmix or as a treat a babybell cheese. Dinners I focus more on portion size then what I am eating bc I know I won't survive the whole night on just a piece of meat and some veggies Chat Icon I also carry around a big water bottle all day, usually water with a splash of cranberry for some flavor.
