bfing older babies?
just wondering if i should try to break a "bad" habit.
i ALWAYS bf ds (7+ months) to sleep at night. he is able to go to sleep on his own mostly but i like feeding him at 10pm so that he eats late and possibly sleeps later. everyone tells me it is a bad habit b/c blah blah blah.
what do u do/think?
oh and ds still almost always (unless he just woke up) falls asleep on the boob. is this "normal" for older babies to do?
tia!

Re: bfing older babies?
I don't know the right answer. We are at the year mark and I just nursed him to sleep.
I am trying so hard to keep him at 4 feedings a day. morning, first nap, second nap, and bed. he can't handle more change right now.
I would love for him to be able to go to sleep without it, but I see that as a night of crying. He will do it every now and then with Leo.

Re: bfing older babies?
I co sleep, talk about "bad habits" I have nursed all 3 to sleep. I started sleep training when they were about a year. As long as they and you are comfy with it go for it. I promise you it will not last forever!
ETA: After co sleeping and nursing to sleep my older 2 have no issues with sleeping in their own bed (but would prefer to snuggle of course) or going to bed once being off the boob.

Re: bfing older babies?
All I can say is that with DD, I always nursed her to sleep. She would also fall asleep on the boob alot. Let me tell you, it made it alot harder for me in the long run.
She had serious sleep issues for awhile because she refused to sleep unless she was nursed to sleep. If I tried to skip a night, she would scream (sometimes for more than and hour and a half ) until I couldn't take it anymore and just gave in.
Now with DS, I have never nursed him to sleep, and he never falls asleep on the boob. I always just laid him in his crib and he falls asleep on his own, usually without crying.
