BFing/pumping moms - rash on boobs????
did anyone else get a rash on one of their boobs? I have no idea if it's dry skin or what, but it is really red and super itchy.
and which doctor do you even call for something like that? your PCP, OB?

I BF for 3 1/2 months, never got any kind of rash. I would say try calling both doctors, not sure which one would know what to do.

I never had anything like that. Could it be a yeast infection? I'd go see doc.
I hope you feel better!

It could be dry skin or it could also be thrush. I would try your OB first, the your PCP. Good luck

Re: BFing/pumping moms - rash on boobs????
I called my OB - he said I have to call my ped since it's probably related to breastfeeding and they are better equipped to handle those questions.
so now I am waiting on a call back from one of the ped nurses. LLL recommend a cold vinegar compress for most rashes, so I put it on and it definitely took a lot of the itchiness away. I'm wondering if it is a yeast infection.
ETA: ped called back and said they are not comfortable handling it, to talk to my OB

no nipple burn at all. the rash is above the aerola.
I just spoke to someone at LLL, and she thinks it might just be some sort of irritant, so she wants me to wash my pj's, nursing bras, and sheets in hot water to kill anything on them.

Did you change anything? Fabric softeners maybe? Nursing pads?

that was the first thing I thought of also, and I can't think of anything. the LLL leader did mention that you can get a rash if you keep nursing pads in for too long or if you sit around in a nursing bra after leaking a little. she recommended airing the "girls" out a little today and really trying to keep them dry.
