Moms , I need some suggestions...

I am currently TTC and do not have any children yet. I am watching my 19 month old niece ALL day this week, Thursday. It is going to be a 12 hour day, any advice on things to do with my niece to make the day go faster, things to entertain my niece???? I was thinking of taking her to see Mommy at work and then we all go to lunch together- maybe some arts and crafts, any suggestions on some things to entertain her, things to break up the day? We will be in the Commack area, but am willing to travel a little bit. Am I losing my mind if I take her to Chuckie Cheese? I have never been there , she has not either. She is a very good baby.Chat Icon

They have a baby section at the Commack Chuck E. Cheese that would be perfect.

I think crafts, fingerpainting, practicing letters, reading, etc. would be terrific.

i think arts and crafts is a great idea. crayons, paper, and maybe some finger paints will take you a LONG way. chuck e cheese is a great idea as well. also, you might look into whether your local library has story time.

The South Shore Mall and Sunrise Mall have play areas perfect for little ones. You could walk the mall, have lunch, and let her play for a bit. Also, Gymboree has open play for around $10.

Have fun!

Re: Moms , I need some suggestions...

-check the libraries to see what they have going on smithtown libraries
-even if it says "Requires registration" call and ask if they would let you in that day. many moms never show up, or cancel, so there's always room for one more!

-if you do go to chucke cheese, morning is best. it's clean and empty.
bring a cup of coffee, a camera, and have fun.Chat Icon

There are a few places that have open play:
Kiddazzles in Nesconset.
why dont you call "my gym" or "the little gym" and tell them you'd like to go to a "trial class" (should be free/no cost) that day, tell them her age, call ahead so they can let you know if they do have classes that day.

im not sure which bookstores have reading time on thursdays. I know borders in commack has it on wed.

have some crayons and construction paper.

im sure you'll have a great day !
