BFP yesterday and supposed to get flu shot today
I don't know what to do?! What do you ladies think???
I got a flu shot when I was PG with DD, but I was 16wks at the time.....right now I am only 4.

I got mine at 12 weeks. I think it's important since we are headed into flu season and a woman's immune system is weakened during pregnancy. It would be really bad to get the flu while pregnant. It's dangerous for both the mother and the baby.

I fully agree! I just think that it's so early on that it may be too early to get it. I don't know what to do! My gut says to wait, so I think I'm going with it!

Definitely ask your OB office what they think as well. If they think it's fine then I would trust them. If they think you should wait, then I would wait. But flu season is rapidly approaching, so I'm not sure!

actually I think your right. I think most offices will wait until you are at least 12 weeks! Thats what I read somewhere I think!

my dr told me i didnt have to wait till than but i guess they are all different

I spoke to my Dr about this yesterday. He said that the CDC says that the flu shot is safe at any time during pregnancy and then he said, but if you were part of my family I would suggest you wait until the 2nd trimester. He said the CDCs goal is to stop the spread of infection, he feels that waiting until the baby has passed the major development of the 1st trimester is safer. He also said you really don't want to catch the flu while PG. He was basically leaving it up to me to decide.
I am 9 weeks so I that is only a few weeks for me, I decided to wait and to be vigilant about hand washing until then. Since you just got your BFP you will be in the thick of flu season before your 2nd trimester, so it may be better to get it, again the CDC says it is safe at anytime during PG.
I would call your OBGYN and get his/her opinion.

First, congrats!!
I got my flu shot last week at 8 weeks. I asked my OB if i should wait and he said no. We are heading into flu season and he's very concerned about his pregnant patients being exposed to H1N1 as it can be very dangerous.
I also asked about the mercury preservative thimerosol and he said that the flu shot DOES contain it in most cases (you can seek out ones that dont if you wish), but he said the amount of mercury in the vaccine is equivalent to eating a tuna sandwich, so it wasn't anything to be concerned about.
Frankly, with the amount of processed foods we eat and I drink regular soda without thinking twice. I'm pretty sure that stuff could be more potentially harmful than a vaccine that is endorsed by our docs and supposed to protect us from getting sick. JMHO!

I am only about 5 weeks (yay!) and I went to my ob yesterday. She wanted to give me the flu shot that same day! She actually brought it up, not me.
I've never had a flu shot before and wasn't planning on it but she seemed to feel strongly about it. I put it off until the next time I go back. I'm leaning towards getting it I think though sooner rather than later...

I found out I was preg last yr 3 days after I got the flu shot. I wasn't expecting to get preg so I didnt think it was a big deal to schedule an appt for the flu shot. I had "spontanous abortion" a week later. My Dr. said it was unrelated but who knows....
