Getting the Flu shot today and kinda nervous!
My OB recommended that I get the flu shot, so i'm going to my primary doctor to get it today. I've never gotten it before so I'm nervous about my reaction to it. Did you anyone get the flu after getting the shot? I woke up this morning with a horrible cold and sore throat and I can really do without the flu, too!!

I am thinking the same thing! I get my first shot ever on Sat and I am still not sure what to do or expect. I am so lost on this topic.

Ive gotten the flu shot a few times and will be getting it agian next Wed. They say most people dont have a reaction to it but if you do it should be right away (not that that helps) but I still think getting it is better then not and taking the chance to get some flu symptoms from the shot rather then not get the shot and get the flu! My Dh had the flu 2 years ago and it was horrible!!! Good luck and I pray you get no reaction to it!!

The only way you can get sick from the flu shot is if your immune system is already down. If you are already feeling sick I would consider rescheduling your flu shot.
Last year I went to get my flu shot and thankfully the dr took my temp and looked down my throat. I had a 99.1 fever and my throat was red and glands were swollen and they refused to give me the flu shot. I had to wait until I was feeling better.
I have gotten one every year for the past 7 years and have never gotten sick from it

I've gotten flu shots...I'm getting one this wednesday at my OB too..
your arm may hurt and be sore, and I have gotten a little achy after but nothing serious!

Good luck! I've gotten the flu shot for years. You really can't get the "flu" from the shot. However, I always get a sore arm so try not get it in your dominant arm.
I'm not sue sure, but I would ask your doctor about getting the shot since you have a cold. Maybe he/she would want you to wait until after you get over the cold?

I've gotten the flu shot every year for the past several years and never had any sort of adverse reaction to it at all. And I'm very prone to getting sick in the winter, but it seems to have worked.
My arm was a tiny bit sore when they injected it, but someone said to just rub it in so the shot doesn't pool in one spot in the muscle and I just made sure to rub it a bit when I remembered for a few hours or so after the shot and that seemed to work well.

I got my Flu shot on Thursday and on Friday my arm was sore but no other side effects. I have gotten the flu shot for the past few years beacuse I am always sick in the winter (bronchitis and the flu ever year now it is just brinchitis).

Thanks ladies, just got it done!!! My doctor said the worst thing that can happen is that my cold will get worse. I couldn't take another day off from work, so I just did it anyway.

I think if you are nervous about it, then you shouldn't do it. When you commit to doing something you should feel 100% good about it. If something is telling you inside that's making you nervous or uncomforatble, maybe you should listen to that little voice. I've never gotten a flu shot and I work in a HIGH germ zone (Prek K teacher) I haven't had anything in 7 years!

I got it last Monday and was fine- my arm was a little sore but it went away by Wednesday
its not a live vaccine so you shouldnt get the virus from it!

I refused to get the flu shot regardless of the recommendation. My best friend got it while she was pregnant and was sick for 3 weeks... I know I have a pretty strong immune system, so I took the chance, and "knock on wood" all worked out fine. My stepdaughter also got both flu shots last year and was sick for 2 months on and off with flu-like symptons so I just think its sometimes safer to allow your body to work its natural antibodies. JMO

I received the Flu shot last Thursday and had no reactions at all. You wont even feel the shot, and i felt fine afterwards.
It's important especially since we will have winter babies.
Also, the flu shot is an inactivated Vaccine, so you can't get the flu from the actual vaccine.

I have felt sick & achy after the shot.. but obviously nothing even close to what I would feel like if I got the flu. I talked to my Dr. about getting the shot today and she told me to get it even though I have had this reaction in the past. She said it is totally normal to feel a little off for a few days after getting it.

I got the flu shot YEARS and YEARS ago and I got really sick from it. It never got it again. I am a teacher and I never got the flu shot my whole career. I am now 9 years in and I got the flu once in the very beginning of teaching.
So once in 9 years isnt bad so I opted not to get it.
But everyone is different too. Dont be nervous I am sure you will be ok

The only time I got it, was the only time I came close to having the flu. It was a few weeks later.
I won't be getting one ever again. Esp, now that i am healthier than I have ever been!!

I never had the flu shot. Not even with my first pregnancy. I have always declined it. I am more afraid of the symptoms and it making me sick than anything else.
DH got it a few years ago. The only symptom he had was his arm was sore for a week.

My doctor just recommended the flu shot to me this week. I have never gotten it and never gotten the flu. I've always worked with children. I know they say you're immune system changes when you're pregnant, but I'm nervous about getting the shot.
