Biden and “co-Ed” sports
I’m seeing all over how Biden has pretty much decimated women’s sports. Now that’s an exaggeration. But while reading up on it, I stumbled upon this ....
“Applying this test to schools means that coaches cannot consider the sex of the player in determining whether they make the team. Under such an approach, schools will be forced to allow transgender women (who were born male) to tryout for and compete on women’s sports teams. But, more significantly, they may be forced to allow male athletes who are not good enough to compete on the men’s team try out for the women’s team”
Could anyone imagine this???

I don't agree as a man is a man. No matter if you decide to call yourself a woman or even go through the steps to become one. The strength of a man is much more than the normal woman.

Re: Biden and “co-Ed” sports
I agree with his EO to protect the rights of the LGBTQ community from discrimination but I think when it comes to sports specifically, this is unchartered territory that we're going to have to wade through until we figure out the right path to take.
I see both sides of the coin with this because you don't want to deny a person their right to participate simply because they were born a gender they don't identify with. But on the flip side, there is the reality of physical differences between men and women. I don't know what the answer is here but it will be interesting to see where the dust will settle with this issue.

I am not at all in favor of this. Women fought so hard for Title IX. In general, men will be bigger and stronger than women. It's ok to be different. It's ok to be "separate but equal." Female athletes deserve the right to shine and excel against their peers and be granted all of the accolades (whether it's scholarship money, professional opportunities or anything else) they work so hard for.

I could only find one thing on this (which you quoted from) that is a Conservative organization. The title is “ On Day One, Biden Eliminates Single-Sex Sports” which um..... I’m going to go with no.

I originally said that it is very exaggerated in my post. But I wanted to see everyone’s feelings, have a discussion. How far will it go? Where do you think it will stop? Do you agree? Kamala is a woman, will she be for or against this?
We live in a society now where you can’t say “that would never happen”. It is a possibility. Do I think it will go THAT far...no.

Totally not on board with it. It is unfortunate that a person who was born the wrong gender but there are just physical attributes that are clearly genetically male, specifically upper body strength that make the playing field unfair.

Biden and “co-Ed” sports
This is a complicated issue. If a person identifies as the opposite sex then they should be allowed to play as the opposite sex. That is just part of acceptance and inclusion.
For a man wanting to play on a woman's sports team because they could not make the men's team, I do not agree with that at all but I would not want a woman to be discluded from joining a men's team (football, baseball) if she is good enough to make the team. So those thoughts are in directly conflict. I honestly do not see many men though wanting to join a women's team though if everyone knows it is because they were not good enough to join the other.

Agreed. I’m fine with woman being on a men’s football team so I have to be open.

How big of an issue is this?
Does it really matter if we open our hearts and minds to a child and allow them to play sports?
Seriously, calm down republicans. No one is going to force you to be transgender.

Huh? I don’t think people are having issues with someone being transgender, it’s the fact that there are physical differences, that’s the issue.

I agree, I can understand both sides and it’s def gonna be a complex issue to solve. On one hand u wanna be fair and equal to all but on the other hand physical differences can def pose an advantage/disadvantage to the other person or team.

I don't think the issue is necessarily about people who are transgender but more of a male joining a woman's team.
I kind of agree where they are going with this. If a woman has a right to join an all male team because she is good enough, then why should a male not be allowed to join a woman's team? Why should he have to forgo his chance at playing a sport just because he is a male. Isnt it reverse sexism? Iy would be hypocritical to not allow it.

Trying to have a real conversation. And I have to say, this has been a great civil exchange of dialogue. . Not sure what you are referring to.

I agree. But to take it a step further....what if all the males who couldn’t make the “boys” team moved down into the “girls” team and there is no longer any spots for girls. It’s a very complex situation. I think there are going to be a lot of bumps in the road as it gets figured out. I’m just hoping you don’t have anyone take advantage of this situation and ruin it for those who would benefit from it.

Re: Biden and “co-Ed” sports
This category of transgender rights is nothing like we've handled before. In the business world, and the world in general, it shouldn't be an issue if someone is transgender.
However, in the field of elite athletes, where the difference between first and last is fractions of a second, having 5 or 10 years of natural testosterone enhancing your muscles makes a huge difference.
There won't be a clear-cut solution to this, and I have a feeling that the "answer" will vary based on the organization, sport, etc.
No matter what, someone is going to get short-changed.

Really?
And it is a big issue. It's not just the fact that little Jimmy who is now little Jane wants to play girls volleyball in 4th grade. College level athletics are affected. Millions of dollars in scholarship money that goes to young women, endorsement deals, etc. You are being very short-sighted if you don't see the bigger implications of this. College level sports is a HUGE money maker.
Maybe you should educate yourself on what Title IX was really all about and how it helped women gain some kind of parity.
Title IX finally gave women some equality at a time when the ERA couldn't even pass. It's a shame it still hasn't. That to me is a much bigger issue.
There are no easy solutions. Men and women are different. A woman who used to be a man regardless of the hormones she takes, still has certain physical advantages.

Very well said- I came to post something similar. This would have affected me and my two siblings who were all competing for sports scholarships when looking at colleges.

You need to check yourself.
Everyone on this thread has answered civilly and I think everyone agreed this issue is not a cut and dry one. As probably the only republican to answer on this thread stop generalizing and realize that your fellow democrats also have the same concerns.

Re: Biden and “co-Ed” sports
I agree with the thought that there is some gray here but I also fall on the side of thinking that it's not really an issue.
First of all, this population is very small. It's not like millions of people and dozens of sports teams are being affected left and right. Young men born male are not going to join the female team to excel or because they couldn't make the other team. They will not want to do that for a host of reasons. It just doesn't work that way.
Second of all, anyone born male who ids as female is probably also taking hormones that might reduce her masculine features and negate that "advantage."
Thirdly, anyone who really is transgender at a young age is probably struggling so much that I would be curious how many of them are even going to play sports. This sort of circles back to number one - we are talking about very few people here.
I'm going beyond this issue for a moment here to say that I would really like to see the Republican party - as in the party and its tenets, not individual voters - "check itself" and have a reckoning over its homophobic and transphobic policies in general so maybe both sides of the aisle don't have to get so easily heated over this. It's 2021. Enough already.

Do you honestly think a male team will welcome a transgender? Hormones will not change your strength.
