Birthday Party on Labor Day weekend?
I am starting to put some ideas together for Derek's 1st b-day. Is Labor Day weekend a bad time to have a birthday party? I dont really want to have it the Saturday after because it's September 11th. Or is that stupid?

I would rather it on Sept 11th then Labor Day Weekend. I don't see the problem with having it on Sept 11th

Does DH have to do anything for 9/11? I think Chris would be weirded out by it and he wasn't even on the job at that point...
This year I would do 9/11, but if it were 2011 (10 year anniversary) I wouldn't
Also, do you know if school starts before Labor Day? if it doesn't, then a lot of people go away...

DS will have a birthday party on labor day weekend for the rest of his life since that's when his birthday falls  I see no problem with it, those who want to be there will!

I would prefer the weekend before or after but if you do labor day weekend, def the Saturday and not Sunday (smack in the middle of the weekend)

My birthday is around Labor Day and growing up we always had my family party that weekend - nobody who was invited had a scheduling conflict.
If you feel that most people will be able to make it, I'd say go for it.
If not - would you consider the weekend before as well so you don't have it on 9/11?

Considering DS's b/day is 9/11 I really don't think it is such a big deal. There are always going to be happy and sad occasions.

I wouldn't schedule a party on any holiday weekend. You're just asking for no-shows. A lot of people go away on those long weekends that I just don't think it's a good idea to schedule a party then. Why not the week before or after?
