We had a party last night & one of my DH's friends(I'm not that friendly with her) said her husband wanted to know if it was a swinger party because it was sort of Valentine themed & on the invites I put that the menu would include natural aphrodisiacs. All of "our" friends know we aren't swingers & they got the whole idea but of course when this woman called my DH to ask if it was a swingers party he said "no, its just the kind of party where we all put our keys in a big bowl at the beginning of the night"
She isn't the sharpest & she didn't really get it. No we are not swingers but it sounds like your neighbors totally are

Yep there was an episode on Cold Case and it was from the 70's. There was a key party! You put your keys in and when you're ready you pick a key out and off you go with whoever that key belongs to!
Ooh, I remember that one. I was thinking of that episode while reading this thread.

That makes me think of that movie "The Ice Storm" where all the couples dropped their car keys in a dish and whoever's keys you picked out was who you were going home with

No, I didn't stay around long enough to see what happened. I took one look at the bowl and told DH, the moron from Israel who doesn't know what it means, that we had to get out of there pronto. We left within about 30 minutes.
I really don't think it was a party prop - it's not like they threw in a couple of keys from around the house. It was filled to the brim with various keys.

This was EXACTLY what I was going to say, but decided to read the replies before posting. The glass bowl of keys is the giveaway to me. I am 40 and I don't need to put my keys in a bowl to keep me from drunk driving and neither do my friends.

Keep an eye on these neighbors! I read an article about some people somewhere south of NY that were cited for these parties. Apparently, they had made it a kind of business and had parties all the time. The guests would provide 'optional donations' to help the hosts out with the cost of the food, etc.
The neighbors got ****** because of all the cars lining the block every weekend, the people coming and going, the music, etc. And OH the fact that they were brokering casual sex with strangers.
