I think it depends on what you are all doing together and what you are doing separate.

WE did a small one and had a local band play and had the ice cream truck come (which gave us a set price for a certain amount of ice cream. Maybe was about $150). So we divided the band cost and added tip plus ice cream. Everyone else brought food and we did split pizzas.

For a big block party that was around our block. Not ours, but we were invited they were having a bounce house and some other stuff so that was divided per household and everyone else did all their own food. Find out what the entertainment is and then split that up. You can also have the ice cream man come, do fireworks, etc.

Block party questions

We don’t have many houses on our block that participated so we collected $100 from each house. We booked a dj that supplied games, water balloons, face painting, etc. We also booked a huge water slide and had the ice cream man come by. The money went towards the dj, water slide, tip for the dj assistants, and ice cream man. We also bought guft cards and bottles of wine with the leftover money and raffled them off for the houses that participated. We did a 50/50 raffle. Each house was responsible for their own guests and food.
