Blocked Tubes Quest -repost from TTC
Hi. I'm going for a HSG on monday I am nervous about the procedure, but hopeful that it will give us some answers. But my question is that if your tube/tubes were blocked, would you still O and get AF regularily???
There's a part of my that kinda hopes that they are blocked. That way they can fix it and we could be on our way.

Re: Blocked Tubes Quest -repost from TTC
my HSG showed i had one blocked tube. for me, there were no signs. regular AF and i ovulate. if the tube is blocked, the egg is still released but the egg and sperm cannot meet.
not to scare you, but a blocked tube isn't always an easy fix. i understand that you are hoping to find "something" wrong so that it can be fixed and you get pregnant. but unfortunately, it's not always so simple. FM me if you have any other questions. good luck!!

Re: Blocked Tubes Quest -repost from TTC
I had a blockage in one of my tubes that was fortunately cleared during my HSG. What that meant for me was the HSG itself was pretty painful.
It was WAY worse than any period cramps, and I was crampy for a couple of days afterwards too.
It was all worth it though - we had success with our first IUI following the HSG.

Re: Blocked Tubes Quest -repost from TTC
Yes, I had to have surgery to remove it and got pregnant with dd 2 months after. It's not a fun diagnosis and not common really in younger women? I was 28 when I found out. Second is endo was in the tube that caused blockage so my other tube wasn't great. I'm doing ivf for second baby. They could not fix bad tube and the one existing they couldn't do much to or it would be damaged! I had a miscarriage with second pregnancy . My hope is you don't have a thing wrong with your tubes as it can not usually be reversed.

Re: Blocked Tubes Quest -repost from TTC
Thank you all for your responses. Ultimately, of course, I wouldnt want anything wrong with me, but I've heard so many sucess stories of woman having a blocked tube and then it's cleared and bam, they get pregnant! I guess this is what I'm hoping for instead of having to go through all the infertility stuff. I just never imagined it was going to take me this long. It's just mades me so sad.
I'm sure this procedure is gonna hurt like a *****. My best friend had it done after a year of trying and she got pregnant the next month, but she said it hurt soooo bad.

Re: Blocked Tubes Quest -repost from TTC
When I had a HSG done the dr said that my left fallopian tube was blocked and he suggested a laproscopic surgeryto remove it, so when he went in to remove it- he discovered that the tube was NOT blocked and he said that I would be pregnant on my own. Well, after 4 months I wasn't so moved onto IUI with injectable med and got my from round #2.
Good luck and feel free to fm

I know what you mean about wanting the blocked tube, I wanted one too! Not a serious blockage just a minor one that was definitely the reason and for the dye to clear it up!
I will tell you the test for me was not a big deal, I went on my lunch break and went back to work afterwards. It didn't hurt at all, slightly uncomfortable and over with in like a minute.
I will say my one regret was going for the test on CD8 and then waiting to try on our own before getting CD3 blood work. I would do the HSG test and the CD3 blood work together asap only because I found a minor problem in my blood work that could be my issue. Wish I caught it in Feb when I had the HSG test.
Good luck!

Re: Blocked Tubes Quest -repost from TTC
Good luck. My HSG was like nothing at all, but some people have pain. If you do have a blockage, you will need a lap to unblock it. I had a blocked side and still O'd and got AF regularly. The egg couldnt get past the blocage to be fertilized, but I still Od.
