Blowout question

If you get a blowout and want your hair styled with a curl will they also use a curling iron? I have gotten maybe 10-15 blowouts and usually they will finish with a curling iron as my hair doesnt hold a curl incredibly well but the most recent time I was told reluctantly that it was a $15 upcharge to use the curling iron, so I declined and did it myself when I got home because I wasn't wowed by the blowout. In the past I have gotten amazing blowouts at the same place but the stylist always finished with the curling iron. I'm clearly looking for a new place now but was wondering what the norm is...

Usually places charge you more for using the curling iron. Nubest I think charges15-20$ Extra for the iron. It's ridiculous

Drybar in Roslyn is the best. Blow out is $45 and they used a curling iron. Products are rear and they are PUNCTUAL!

Wouldn't that be considered a styling, not just a blowout? I thought blowout was just that - and anything else involving other tools is considered a styling and therefore subject to additional cost.

I think the reason some places are starting to charge more for that is because people come in for a blowout and then want all these crazy curls where it needs to be pinned up, curled with the iron or whatever and then you start to get into what is no longer just a regular blowout but more of a special occasion style, which takes much more time...

Re: Blowout question

I have long curly hair and I pay $35 for CUT and BLOWOUT and she'll break out the curling iron if I ask - no charge.

Where the heck are you people going for blowouts that they cost more than my entire set up???? LOL

Re: Blowout question

I am always asked, no up charge.

At the posh new salon I started going to, if they asked for more $$$ on top of what I'm already paying, I'd leave Chat Icon

I've been told if they have to use any tools other than a round brush there's an up-charge.

Which location do you go to in midtown? And how do you make it on your lunch break? I hear it's always a zoo!

I'm curious which midtown location too because I find the one on E56th stinks and that's the one by my office. I like the Flatiron one much better.

I am obsessed with their products too!

Really? That's the only one I've ever been to. I had a good experience but that was 2 years ago. There's one on the West side by me now. A bit of a walk for you but not crazy. I think it's on 56th or 57th between 6th and Broadway. I haven't been there though since I usually wear my hair curly.
