Is it true you only need to paint one coat? Also how does the price compare to other paints, such as Lowe's brands? TIA.

I haven't used aura, but found that with most regular BM colors we only needed one coat.

We also used Valspar in two of our rooms and only needed one coat (with touch-ups in some areas).

Re: BM Aura - Anyone use this?

I used Aura in our DS room. I was able to strech 1 gallon to cover the whole room with just 1 coat. But it was a light color and the walls were already primed white. Good thing too because 1 gallon cost like $60!! (At Aboff's in East Meadow)Chat Icon

Re: BM Aura - Anyone use this?

my whole house is aura
1 coat

it is awesome!!!

but if we used darker colors like pomegranate
(my bf just used) I would do 2 coats but u def can get away with 1

it is the only paint I would use

and it is washable in ANY finish
we did all in Matte

Re: BM Aura - Anyone use this?

So far we used Aura in the dining and loved it. We even did a red accent wall with it only need one coat. I have already gotten more Aura paint for the bedrooms, but haven't had time to paint yet. It took a little while learning how to paint with it because it dries quickly, but once we got the hang of it we really like it.

Re: BM Aura - Anyone use this?

you need 2 coats in a dark color .....but that's still better than 3 or 4 w/ 'regular' paint -

It's awesome and worth the money, IMO. We painted our kitchen Georgian Brick over light, light green and only needed about 1.5 coats. (hard to explain, lol)

Re: BM Aura - Anyone use this?

We used Aura in our house and painted quite a few rooms dark colors. If rolled properly you should only need 1 coat. We only used 1 coat, even for the darker rooms and it is the exact color it is suppose to be.

It does roll a lot thicker and you have to be carfeul not to go over what you have just painted or it "gums" it up. It took some getting use to but we loved it!

Re: BM Aura - Anyone use this?

we used Aura in our kitchen, living room and bedroom. we had major spackling on the walls due to removal of paneling so we needed 2 coats for it all to be even in color. highly recommend it though. it's about $55/gallon from the BM store.
