Booster Seat Question *Updated with another question below*
ok...this isn't for me...I am just curious...those of you that have used this...
At what age did you put your child in this? I see the weight says 40-100, but is it really safe at the low end of this range?
Any info you might have would be great...thanks!!

Re: Booster Seat Question
DS has a very similar one (same design, different brand). We moved him into it on his 6th b-day. The gov't minimum is 4 years and 40 lbs, but I never like putting DC's safety into the hands of the gov't minimum.....
He was probably around 48 lbs or so.

Re: Booster Seat Question
Honestly I am not a fan of that booster seat or Booster seats in general without a 5 point harness. If the seat belt is not positioned correctly it can seriously injur or kill a child. Also if the seat belt fails a child can be ejected from the car. For these reaons I prefer a booster with a 5 point harness. My son is 4 years old and 41lbs...I just bought my son a Britax Regent youth seat. It is huge, and it goes up to 80lbs. I plan on keeping him in it as long as I possiblly can.

Re: Booster Seat Question
Let me ask another question...if someone gave you this seat to drive their child around which is 2 years and 9 months old and I am sure weighs between 30-40 lbs...what would you do?

Ugh. that's a tough one. I would have to say that I don't think it's safe and I don't feel comfortable driving their child around with that seat. I'd tell them they need to get a safer, age/weight appropriate carseat.

Re: Booster Seat Question *Updated with another question below*
What would you say...sorry I really don't feel it is a safe seat for him...even though they drive with him in it??
I don't know what to do Its not like he is in my car often...actually in the 2 years I have been watching him...this is like the 3rd time he has been in my car....now I watch him earlier in the day and he comes with me to pick my DD up from school...roundtrip not even 20 minutes....

Re: Booster Seat Question *Updated with another question below*
Nope. My 6 1/2 year old is in a high back, seat belt positioning booster. I will NOT put him in one that does not back a back because I feel that its too easy for it to "slip" out from under him. He is 50 pounds.
My 4 1/2 year old is in the Britax Parkway high back booster with the seatbelt. He is also 50 pounds.
My 2 year old WILL remain 5 pt. harnessed until at least 4 years of age.
I'd say something along the lines of, "Listen, I do not mean to offend you in any way, but I am a stickler for carseat rules, and booster seats are not meant to be used until at least 4 years of age. I am not comfortable driving with any child under the age of 4 who is NOT 5 point harnessed."

I would say no because the cild does not even meet the minimum weight and age. God forbid something happened - you would be the one to get in trouble - not the parents.
I would still feel uncomfortable if the child was at the very low end of the minimums, but if it was very infrequent and the parents say its ok, I would use it.

Re: Booster Seat Question *Updated with another question below*
Even if the parents "say its ok", I still would not do it. GOD FORBID something were to happen, would they then turn around and accuse you of not having their childs interests at heart?
Its too much of a liability IMO. If they INSISTED that you use it, then I would seriously consider making them sign some kind of waiver stating that if their child gets injured (or worse) while in the car with you in that "seat", that you are not personally liable.
Seriously. Just because the seat "says" 40 pounds, does NOT mean that a 2 year old who is that big is mature enough to sit in a seat designed for an 8 year old.

I would not drive that child around in that seat. I would probably just say really nicely that you dont mean to offend them or their judegment but that you personally just dont feel comfy with that seat at that age and therefore cant drive him around in that and you hope they understand.
That is very unsafe!

I wouldn't.
Play the liability issue, say that you don't think he meets the requirements and that you are nervous that if you got pulled over, you could get in trouble.
My parents have a Cosco Scenera in their car and I think it cost like $40 at Target!

No Way, Could you live with yourself if something happened(God Forbid)? I personally would aske her for a different seat or borrow one from a friend or even buy one.
BTW: Studies show that most accidents occur within 5 miles of your home.

Re: Booster Seat Question *Updated with another question below*
Thanks everyone
I DO feel completely UNcomfortable driving him in that...I wouldn't put my daughter in it...I really don't want him in it....I know it is just their 'extra' seat...but I am SOOOOO nervous with it.
I am going to talk to her...I know she won't get upset about it...I just wanted to get others opinions on it
Thanks for your help
