Boy mommies - 1st b-day gift
what did you get your son for his 1st b-day
we have alot of toys that were miki's but I want to get something nice for him as well (we plan to put some $$ into his 529 plan as well)

My DS got the Fischer Price firetruck ride on toy and it's still his favorite till this day!!! he is 26 mos.

This is what I plan on getting for DS.
We love this chair-DD has one. She got it for her first birthday and I thought, "oh, a chair " but she loves it!
I would get one if you have the room.
I also like the idea of a boys ride on toy, or maybe something like this:

I actually don't think we really got him anything for 1st birthday since he was so young and would get so many gifts from family, etc.
For his second birthday we got him the Fisher Price adjustable basketball hoop for outside.

probably a plane ticket to Barcelona 
between his party and the wedding we have to go to, it will be a pretty low budget gift giving year for us.
I'll probably get him a Barca jersey, hopefully take him to his first European soccer match while we are there, and call it a day.
Christmas isn't TOO far off, so we'll make it up to him then I guess.

We bought a house
We had no $$ so we just got him a build-a-bear, we plan on making that a yearly tradition. My parents got him a Little Tikes Deluxe Cozy Convertible Car: 
ETA: He got a ridiculous amount of gifts from friends and family, we still have some that we haven't opened, 9 months later!

So far, we got DS a monogrammed handmade pottery dish, bowl and cup set by Noble Pottery with his name in glaze on each piece and a special message from us carved on the bottoms. I'm old school and like having a nice dish set for kids for special occassions and to display in the hutch or his room.
Aside from his party, I was thinking of waiting to see what he gets and then get him whatever big thing he did not get that I think he'd get good use out of.
I also plan on making him a nice handpainted (on wood) growth chart for his room so we can start measuring him on his first birthday, and each thereafter.

I had two ideas, a sand and water table and a children's fold out couch, but my MIL is getting both. My mom got him the ride on zebra and a few other things.

I have to say, go with the wagon. It's such a great thing! It's kind of become tradition in my family to get the kids a wagon on their first birthdays. (well, the first kid in each family that is, how many wagons does one house need? ). They all love it! They even make great ones with canopies over them for the summer. We use our wagon allllllllllll the time.

My mom gave DS a swingset. She gave him the wagon when he was 18 months but it's great at 1 yo too.

We got them the little roadster from Little People, it has a handle that you control and when they get older they control the car by the steering wheel.
