Re: boys name question
This is our debate. . we both like how the name sounds. .and like the idea of Thomas as a middle name bc it's my dad's but I think everyone will think of the poet and it will be weird and DH says it won't matter bc in no one DS's name will even have heard of the poet!

Re: boys name question
We read this in English class in 12th grade and I always remembered it:
DO NOT GO GENTLE INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT
Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rage at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
It actually was an answer on Jeopardy last night, but the contestant didn't remember the "rage rage" part which is what I always remember.
I think the poem came up in 12th grade during AP English. I probably hadn't heard of him before that. So it's not very likely to come up, but people might think there's a connection.
Of course, if you just call him Dylan, no one will ever think about it. I do love the name Dylan for a boy. It's not like your last name is Thomas, so it wouldn't really come up much. Maybe just do a little background research on the poet himself and make sure you're cool with the connection.

Re: boys name question
I like it. Truthfully, most people don't even know each other's middle names, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Re: boys name question
I think the name is fantastic!
And like someone said-most people don't know the middle name, since you primarily call the LO by their first name.
I've always loved Dylan for a
FYI I've never even heard of the poet

Re: boys name question
thanks everyone for your advice and comments!
and sandra I actually love that poem too and have no problem about the connections to the poet dylan thomas, I mean granted he was a little bit of a drunk and a philanderer :) but he was also fairly brilliant I think.
also good point that most people don't say their whole names together ..

Re: boys name question
I DO think of the poet and I love it nevertheless.
I mean, it's the name of a POET; it's not like you're naming him "Ted Bundy" or something.
I think it's awesome.
