BPA and Bottles
This is muct bigger then just baby bottles!
I stopped using all Gerber plastic container foods and Motts Applesauce (individual). Take a look in your cabinet and if you have any containers with a 6 or 7 (especially 7) on the bottom get rid of it. You will be amazed at how much stuff you have. Heat is the main problem with these types of containers but when the food is processed it is sealed in these containers while hot! So even if you don't heat them up yourself the BPA may have already leeched in the food.
Personally I don't care what "trace amounts" mean because it all adds up and in a world where everything uses plastic I am not taking chances with my family's health.

I went through all my tupperware a while ago and never really used the plastic Gerber container food. I never thought of the Motts applesauce I give those to DS all the time

Re: BPA and Bottles
I would pack Motts for my DS's lunch and when I saw the brochure that linked BPA to recyclable 7 plastic I freaked (the brochure is the first link). My coworker emailed Mott's but has not gotten a response. Their website states the applesauce is packed when hot. This is very scary since we see articles about baby bottles all the time but never about the rest of the foods we eat.
I just want others to be aware.

Re: BPA and Bottles
Just curious - but doesn't the temperature have to be at boiling?

Re: BPA and Bottles
When my DD was born I threw out all the Avent bottles I saved and switched to Playtex dropins. I just realized the other day that the gerber plastics are a 7, thank goodness she has only eaten out of them about a dozen times but I switched to glass. I cant understand why the shampoo, conditioner, face soap, etc. can be made with safe plastic but something I use to feed my child isnt.

Re: BPA and Bottles
at Kohl's they have glass storage containers, like tupperware, and I saw they even have sets of it- for anyone that wants to make the switch.
