Re: Braces/Invisalign anyone?
I had braces put on when I was 18 and they were taken off at 21. I didn't have the clear kind, but I am glad I finally did it. Plus I enjoyed looking "younger" for those few years.
I love my teeth now!

Re: Braces/Invisalign anyone?
I'm really unhappy with my teeth at this point.
My top teeth only, actually. They have shifted and have spaces between every front tooth. My brother and sister both had braces as children, but the dentist said I didn't need them. Welllll - my orthodontist coverage ended at age 16, and I never had to use it (as per the Dentist ), and now I haaaate my smile.
There is no way I have the money for braces/invisalign - but I'd do anything for it! I hate my smile It stinks, because I'm ALWAYS laughing or smiling...

I work for an Ortho, and I would say braces range from 4K to 6500, and if you have Ortho coverage it woill be less.

The downside to the invisalign is that they have these graduated "steps" and you order all of the steps at once, so if something goes wrong, or you decide to stop, you can't, and the dentist can't adjust it, so it's a risk, plus you have to pay for more of it up front than the regular braces *the price difference is only about $400).
has anyone had braces or invisalign as an adult? What would you reccomend? What was your experience?
If the Orthondist you went said this, you need to check another one. Even though Invisalign are ordered in advanced, if the treatment does not go as planned, they will order again for the new course of treatment at no charge to the patient. One of my teeth was shifting and I went right away which in the end saves you $$$...and if there was a change on the treatment or if at the end, you were not completely satisfied with how you teeth looked, they will update your treatment at no charge. I never saw myself wearing those regular braces (but then and there, my case was not bad at all because I went right away as I noticed), but Invisalign is one of the best inventions ever. As long as you keep them on all the time and only remove them to eat or for colored drinks, you are fine. If you'd like, my Orthodontist has an office in the city in Park Avenue (which is the one that I go to because I go during my lunch hour) and one in Woodbury. She's absolutely the best to work with and also has been named the #1 Orthondist in New York for Invisalign. I can send you a FM with her information but I have everything at work. If you'd like it, send me a FM to remind me and I will send to you on Tuesday when I go back to my office. Invisalign absolutely worth it in my opinion..... They also do a free screening for you and will tell you if this treatment is right for you, how much it will cost him and approximate time for treatment. Good Luck!

I had the clear braces for about 9 mos. before my wedding. It was PAINFUL. I think it hurts more as an adult every time they are tightened. Now they are perfect, and I guess I am glad I did it, but it was a few thousand just for the bottom and it was painful. I had clear, and now I have a permanent retainer on the bottom.
OMG. I had braces from i believe 8-11 and am wanting something because my 3 bottom teeth shifted. We have similar experiences
If you want a recommendation in Suffolk, FM me. The guy I used was excellent--he is head of ortho. at the Stony Brook dental school. I am glad I did it because I was self conscious about those bottom few teeth before. You really couldn't see the braces when I talked or smiled, because my bottom teeth don't usually show that much.

I heard mixed reviews about her, she worked in the 800 building in woodbury and went on her own.
