Breaking a bad habit..
When I first started feeding Megan solids, I wanted her to focus on eating, nothing else. And she was doing well. Well now she is an AWFUL eater. She hates everything. Its so hard.
Some family members thought it was a good idea to distract her to eat, which did work for a while but now its a HEADACHE!!!!! She wants EVERYTHING while she eats and if she doesnt get it, she wont even open her mouth. I never wanted this habit to start but since it did, I cant break it. Since its the only way she will open her mouth at all, I do give her things, from my cell phone to a roll of tape...anything to get a few bites in her.
Do you think this is ok? Or should I try harder to break that habit now? So many things you say you wouldnt do before having a child but then having one with their own personality, so much of that goes out the window. Its so hard!!

Re: Breaking a bad habit..
I've just learned that Ryan eats MUCH better while distracted - this was the case when he was younger too but now he just does NOT Want to sit in his highchair at ALL so I've given back the high chair toys and that's working for now (of course he plays w/his food AND the toys but manages to eat some too so I consider that a win). Can she have special highchair only toys? I'm thinking of doing this w/him to make it exciting to be up there and eating. Little toys that suction cup or cars that roll on the tray that are only for mealtime. I would love to hear other suggestions too!
