Breakthrough cases
I just saw that the Yankees game was postponed because of positive cases.
The doctor they interviewed said there is no reason for them to be testing fully vaccinated individuals.
Here’s my question….if you are vaccinated and test positive, can you still spread it?
If so….why shouldn’t they be tested??

Re: Breakthrough cases
Ridiculous....
MLB Network’s Jon Heyman reported that none of the players who tested positive are symptomatic at this point.
STOP testing as they haven’t even proven if an asymptomatic person can give to others vaccinated or non vaccinated.

Re: Breakthrough cases
I’m not at all surprised. People have this belief that covid will disappear with the vaccinated but in reality covid will still exist and sooner or later we’re gonna have to realize that we need to coexist with it, plain and simple. It won’t be rampant like it once was but it won’t go anywhere either. Vaccinated people can be symptomatic and asymptomatic just like unvaccinated. What I find interesting now is that certain vaccinated people think that when they do display symptoms that might indicate covid, will blame it immediately to anything else like a cold, flu, allergies, anything but covid because they have this almost blind faith in the vaccine protecting them from ever getting covid. Yes, it can be allergies, one of the thousands of cold strains, etc, but also it can be covid, why? Because a vaccinated person can still get it. This is why being prepared to combat an illness from the roots is much more successful than putting a bandaid to it like vaccines would be. But we don’t hear how we can be proactive as a society and as individuals against covid in other ways but only by getting a vaccine, unfortunately.

I agree with you. Vaccinated or not, it’s up to us to be proactive if we feel any type of illness starting to be sure we aren’t endangering others. A runny nose for a day-most likely not Covid. Coughing, fever, congested - eh, a test is necessary or stay home if you don’t want to get tested. Especially with a fever. I’m also a firm believer of when you are sick stay home. If you can’t stay home, keep your distance. I remember when I worked in an office and would get sick. I’d warn people as they approached my desk to keep away lol and then I’d spray everything with lysol when I left incase someone used my computer , etc. That’s the best way to combat any illness. Common sense and common courtesy goes a long way

Of course vaccinated people with covid can still spread it! There isn’t one Yankee that has it - there are 6! They spread it to each other! It’s also interesting this is the second time this has happened with this team. Probably because they have such a high percentage of vaccination amongst their team they are allowed to relax all restrictions.

Breakthrough cases
The Yankees have Covid because people on Long Island are allowing their children into stores without masks.

Employers really need to do more to allow their employees to be sick and take earned sick time. I’ve worked in many places that would basically punish you for calling out sick—and for some reason sick days would be part of your performance review. If you were ill too many times it would affect your raise. And I’m not talking somebody who called out 30 days—I was called out in a review once for taking 5 sick days one year. We are “given” 8!!!! And I’ve always had salaried positions in my adult life, I imagine it must be 10 times harder for people that don’t get paid if they don’t go to work that day. Or can’t afford to get fired for getting the flu. Unfortunately most people are treated like robots and not human beings.

Yes, it needs to be made more of a law. Like how you can't be fired or penalized for being out on short term disability, maternity leave etc. It can't be left up to the companies because many are terrible, selfish and greedy. I 100% agree Sick time - that is granted to you when you get hired- should be allowed to be used with no penalty. That's ridiculous that it isn't

Yes, you can be vaccinated, get COVID, and spread it to others. The vaccine is really to stop people from being hospitalized or from dying.
This is why I still double mask when I'm out (and since my son isn't old enough to be vaccinated).
Maybe they're not being tested because the shift of responsibility is now on individuals. By saying wear a mask if you're not vaccinated - we know people aren't being truthful if they're not vaccinated. So they don't feel like they need to enforce testing - since it's now on the honor system.

The current evidence suggests that vaccinated people can spread it, but are less likely to do so.
