Re: breast engorgement after pregnancy loss
I'm so sorry for your loss.
In addition to what PPs have written, one person suggested taking a sudafed as it drys things up. I think it helped.

Be careful what you wear for tightness. I got mastitis when a tight bra cut off a milk duct. My opinion on stopping milk is to just do nothing. Don't mess with them too much. Wear fitted but not binding. Cabbage is good but the more you mess around the more stimulating it is and you don't want that.
Sorry for your loss.
Thanks....I'm wearing a sports bra now, its giving me support but definitely not too tight, so hopefully I'm ok. Do you mind me asking how long you were lactating before you got mastitis? And is there any way to tell if you have it?
Like the fifth day. I got a long lump in my breast and it got all red. The inflammation was like half my breast even though the lump was maybe one or two inches long. Mastitis is very obvious- at least mine was- you can see something is very wrong. You're probably just very engorged.

breast engorgement after pregnancy loss
I am so sorry for your loss!
The thing that worked for me was wearing a sports bra 24/7 and make sure when you take a shower, do not face the water and try to prevent anything from touching your nips.

Re: breast engorgement after pregnancy loss
I had mastitis and there was no mistaking it, 104.5 fever, body aches and a big red hot spot on my boob. HORRIBLE. The milk supply can be uncomfortable when its coming in, keep up with the ice, it will get better.

Benadryl or Sudafed will help dry you up (and help you sleep) That's what I used after my son was born at 21w5d.
